Zao Asian Cafe — Restaurant in South Jordan

I have a few favorite restaurants, and I didn't think I had room for more in my heart....but I'm going to have to make space for Zao Asian Cafe. I tried it for the first time and was blown away with deliciousness. I had a teriyaki rice chicken bowl paired with a lovely mango fresca and can't say enough great things about it.

The setup of the restaurant is casual-you walk in and see a large sign that outlines different menu options and guides you through the ordering process. You talk directly with a person who is assembling your meal and you can pick and choose what options to select or skip. Everything was very fresh and super clean.

Drinks are self-serve and I tried the mango fresca-which was sweet, but not carbonated, so more like a juice. I really dig it.

There is ample seating and a really cool, modern vibe. There is great zen-like music playing, and I was half tempted to throw down some yoga moves in the back of the dining area, but was scared away by the other patrons who looked like they may have laughed me out of the establishment if...

I love going to Zao. I like the fresh, flexible options. I like the soups the best. This time, I got a bit confused and ordered a "bowl" of soup with broth. The server gal had very poor English skills and started a "bowl" I tried to correct her, trying to get the broth instead. She just continued with the bowl. The next gal was better, but I could only get one spoonful of sauce out of her and she missed the jalapenos. The rest of my family seemed to do just fine ordering their bowls and tacos. Except my son got a lot of extra teriyaki sauce on his. Also, I asked the cashier if I could still get rewards from an in person order, she said yes and gave me the receipt. It's been several days and I can't figure out how to add the rewards, sent a message on the website... No response. Next time I'll be more careful about my word choice and do better to order on the app. But it would also be nice for employees to work on English skills. It would be nice to be able to get rewards for in person...

*6/11/19 Update: I visited this location again today and got the soup. It was suuuper yummy! So many noodles, I had to have my son finish them for me! Great broth flavor and the sweet corn in there is so yummy and adds great texture! LOVE!! Also love the staff members at this place. They are all great!

We tried this location out today and had an awesome experience! The staff were kind and accommodating (I always ask for tons of cilantro, lol), and let us try the curry sauce to make sure we would like it prior to ordering. In case anyone is wondering, it’s quite sweet with just a tad of heat. My husband got the rice noodles with chicken, curry, corn, and veggies, and he LOVED it! I got a rice bowl with chicken, carrots, and cilantro with teriyaki sauce and loved mine too! The chicken was tasty and nice and lean, which is a huge deal to me, and the portion sizes are amazing for what you pay! We will definitely be...
