The condo itself was okay; somewhat dated. It was a longer walk to the beach than expected. But neither of those were real issues. The big issues came after we arrived and got settled. We were texted a list of check-in reminders along with gate codes. Under “beach access code” it shown as N/A. We got changed and went down to the beach, there was a gate but it wasn’t locked, so we didn’t think anything of it. When we went back up, we got back to the gate to try to re-enter it was locked. No answer when I called the rental company. So we had a really long walk all the way around the complex to the main road and then through the front gate (the one code I was provided with). As frustrated as we were we decided, no big deal we’d get the code the next day and proceeded to the pool, where we were promptly ejected. We were not provided with the needed bracelets to go in the pool areas. It was really embarrassing. A little while later (around 7 pm) I got a call from the rental agency letting me know they realized they hadn’t given us bracelets and were bringing them to us. I waited for around 45 mins when a gentleman finally arrived with 2 bracelets. There were 4 of us - my husband, myself, and our boys. Needless to say we didn’t get to go swimming that night. The next morning, my husband realized the refrigerator wasn’t working at all! All of the food we had put in there upon arrival was HOT. We had to throw away a bunch of items, and buy ice for our little cooler we had brought along for the rest of our stay. We did report it directly to the rental office that morning, when we went to get additional brackets so that we could access the pool, and were told someone would be by to look at it. No one ever came. As we were checking out, we mentioned this to the staff at the rental office, and were flat out lied to! The “manager” stated that the person we reported the issue to was ill and still out and had never submitted the proper paperwork, when the individual we made the report to was standing right behind her. We were then told refrigerators in that area just don’t cool as well due to the humidity. I hated letting that lady know that both my parents and my uncle and aunt have lived in Port Isabel for almost 30 years, and I can’t remember any of their refrigerators having “humidity” issues. The manager, Lissa, that checked is out and tried to feed me all this bologna was very rude and dismissive. It’s been over 3 weeks, and I’m still waiting for a promised phone call back from this woman to address my concerns. Never deal with...
Read morePadre Getaways is a dishonest, greedy, and sneaky company. Padre Getaways cuts corners and rips its "customers" off any way they can. Below I have gone into more detail; but Padre Getaways IS NOT a reputable company and SHOULD NOT be trusted.
A group of friends and I spent a week in South Padre for spring break and were offered a 'deal' through this company. Padre Getaways owns several condos in Getaways II, the condo complex in which we stayed. While on Spring Break, any issues we faced were not handled by Padre Getaways. It was first discovered that Padre Getaways had charged my group about double what other Spring Breakers were charged. The first day we were approached by the property manager saying we had to pay $20 for wristbands. We were told they were for our car, we didn't have a car, then we were told it was to use the pool, we said we wouldn't use the pool, then we were told we would need them to be on the premise after 8pm. We informed him that we did not want to pay to stay on the property for which we had already paid. He informed us that any spring breaker has to purchase a wrist band either personally or through the company we had booked. We called Padre Getaways and Padre Getaways told us one story and the property manager a different story. Padre Getaways skated around telling us we would have to pay for this out of pocket. We eventually paid, but Padre Getaways did not include this "fee" when describing the trip. Arguing that we had already paid to stay at the condo for the week and because Padre Getaways knew about this “fee” but didn’t inform us, this should have been paid for by Padre Getaways. While staying at the condo nothing was broken that wasn't already broken when we arrived. Before leaving we cleaned the condo to a respectable degree, taking out the trash, sweeping, cleaning the floor of towels, bed sheets, and pillows, ect. Padre Getaways kept the security deposit stating that the condo was "excessively dirty" and that because we rushed to check out by 11 am, we left the condo a disaster. This was not the case. Padre Getaways refused to describe what "excessively dirty" meant, even though at $70 cleaning charge was supposedly included in the contract to clean the condo after our departure. DO NOT book through Padre Getaways. They will rip you off and cut corners anyway they can. If you have already booked, be sure to take pictures before you settle in and right...
Read moreMy husband and I rented Casa de las Palmas for the month of Feb. 2023. The unit was in cool setting on the canal and had been well cleaned. It was uniquely decorated in a fun way and we were excited to be there. We found there were no hangers in the closets. No problem, they delivered some right away. After unpacking we went watch some TV and relax. It was then we learned. THERE WAS NOT ONE COMFORTABLE PLACE TO SIT IN THE ENTIRE UNIT. EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE WAS BROKEN DOWN AND AWFUL TO SIT ON. We paid $5,000 to rent this place for one month. There is no way we should have had to live like this for that money. The chairs at the table had been cut back so that you needed a booster seat to sit at the table. They brought out some other kitchen chair (old, stained and uncomfortable but at least the right height for the table). They refused to do anything further, including refunding part of the rent. I invited them to come out and look at the furniture and was told they were familiar with the furniture and it is designed for "sink-in comfort". Then they offered to bring out additional pillows that we could put under the cushions. We had already stuffed every decorator pillow we could find under those cushions. It was awful. It's been two weeks since we left and my back is still messed up from sitting on broken down furniture. About 10 days before we left, the p-trap came loose under the kitchen sink. We cleaned up the stinky water mess and lined the p-trap back up to the sink drain but the plumbing was old and it didn't securely attach. We used items under the sink to balance it in place. We notified Padre Getaways but they did not send anyone out. I would NEVER use Padre Getaways again. I feel very ripped off by this company charging us luxury rental prices and delivering very substandard furnishings.
THIS ADDITION IS ADDED FOLLOWING THE REPLY FROM PADRE GETAWAYS: Padre Getaways we DID allow you to address the leak. We were told you would be out on Monday and you weren’t. And I certainly know the difference between soft “designer furniture” and worn out furniture. This furniture is worn out. If you are interested in improving our opinion of your company, a partial refund of the rent would show you are interested in customer satisfaction. We believe were over charged given the condition of the unit and it’s...
