Karma Coffee and Books is one of those rare places that feels like home the moment you walk in. From the cozy ambiance to the warm, welcoming smiles behind the counter, it’s clear this is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a space built with intention and heart.
The coffee? Absolutely phenomenal. Whether you’re a cold brew fanatic or a latte lover, they’ve mastered the art of the perfect pour. I had their signature Karma latte with a hint of lavender and honey, and it was divine. Smooth, balanced, and crafted with care. You can tell they source high-quality beans, and they treat each cup like a small ritual.
But what makes this place truly special is the atmosphere. Think comfy chairs, shelves of thoughtfully curated books, gentle background music, and a vibe that invites you to slow down and stay awhile. Whether you’re here to work, read, meet a friend, or just enjoy some solitude, it’s the kind of spot that nurtures creativity and connection.
The book selection is also worth noting—not your typical chain-store titles, but a collection that reflects the spirit of the space: inclusive, thought-provoking, and soulful. It’s clear they’ve put real thought into what’s on those shelves.
It’s rare to find a local business that puts this much love into every detail. Karma Coffee and Books is a breath of fresh air in a busy world—a place that feeds your mind, your heart, and your coffee cravings all at once. Do yourself a favor and spend a morning or afternoon here. You won’t...
Read moreI love coming here for my morning coffee when I’m in SPI. It’s always good, and I usually end up adding a title or two to my home library as well. I introduced my wife to this place on my latest trip here, and she bought four books and said that the chai latte was wonderful!
Much better place than that place up the road (rhymes with Kylo’s) where the coffee isn’t bad, but you have to listen to the owner’s political ramblings while you wait for your drinks. Today, in just three minutes, he disparaged all Californians (for ruining Texas), vaxxers & maskers, Trump non-fans, and extolled his 2nd amendment rights (which he never took advantage of until Biden became president), and more about his life story. I’m sure he has a book on sale inside his little shop that you can purchase, or maybe an audiotape so you can play it at home while making your own coffee… You know, for...
Read moreWe went on a coffee and food tour of South Padre Island. Upon entering this place the staff was kind of unwelcoming and stared. I walked up to the counter I THOUGHT was the register and got stared at by the baristas. I would've thought after a few awkward seconds someone would direct me to find it but alas I had to look like an idiot before me and my husband were able to find the place to order. It might sound stupid but as a Starbucks barista I would hope the staff would be friendly and help direct me to the right place to order. Instead we left with our drinks feeling a little disappointed and embarrassed that they weren't that friendly or helpful, and the shots on all of our drinks were dead. The island sunrise would've been great had the espresso not been sour but otherwise the actual location is really cute. It can be crowded in the mornings but there's plenty of...
