I did take out. When I went in to order the host Keilyn greeted us. She wasn’t very friendly and just continued to draw in her notebook. I asked her to make a togo order and to see a menu. After some time I went to place my order. I ordered 12 wings (half lemon pepper half buffalo), 6 more buffalo wings, a mexican platter and cowboy corn bites. I had specifically asked for cowboy corn bites with NO BACON, because my friend who I was getting this for is allergic to pork. (The host told me that they could make the bites with no bacon.) I also ordered a Mexican platter and the host told me it came with 4 enchiladas. We left and when I went to pick up the order I checked the bag. She told me all 12 buffalo wings were in one box and the 6 lemon pepper were in the other box. I tipped her 20%. When we got home there was only 6 buffalo wings, my friend (who is allergic to pork) took a bite of her corn bites and realized there was bacon in it, and I was missing two enchiladas. I called the restaurant back and explained. The manager, Cody, asked if I was still in the area. I told him I was and he asked for me to come back. I went back and explained again what happened to Cody and he seemed annoyed. I gave him back the corn bites. He told me that There wasn’t much he could do to help me. He said that the corn bites came with bacon in them and he couldn’t take it out. i explained the host told me they could and that my pork allergic friend took a bite. He told me it was the hosts fault and he still couldn’t help me. I also explained how my Mexican Platter only came with two enchiladas, not four. He explained that it only came with two. If anything i was just confused why the staff wasn’t knowledgeable at all about the food. he said he would grab the missing wings from the back. I had to ask for a refund for the corn bites. he said yes then walked away. another server brought out my missing wings. I told him thank you. I then waited for a while for my refund and he never did it. I had to ask the host to go get the manager again. When he came back I asked for the refund again and he sighed. He went onto the tablet and told me repeatedly that he couldn’t find my check. The host had to show him where it was and then he had to call a different manager asking how to issue a refund. When we got home with our missing wings all of the buffalo sauce had spilled out everywhere. If anything the whole experience was unprofessional. I work in customer service and I know very well how a guest should be treated. I was not treated this way today. I really feel like this is a result of bad management. I feel like the staff should know which items come with what and the management should be more friendly! If you’re looking for some good food, this place is an decent place to go by the beach, if you’re looking for experience, I would not recommend this...
Read moreRan into one of the owners of Tom & Jerry’s restaurant while dining at D’s Pizza this evening. My family had a table near the door, a door that unfortunately would not close completely due to faulty hardware. The door was consistently staying open about 1/2 a foot anytime it was opened.
A gentleman started smoking next to the opening of the door (~3 ft from the door) and gusts of smoke starting hitting our table. Not wanting to expose my toddler to smoke and the effect of smoke on our tastebuds and our food, I stepped out and asked him if he would move away from the door.
As per Texas law, smoking prohibited within 20 feet of a public place or workplace. He said no to my request. I asked if I need to get the staff of the restaurant, and he said yes. So, I did. The staff quickly went out to talk with him, he chuckled at my expense. I promptly inquired with the staff as to the result, and she told me that he would be moving away from the door so smoke would no longer enter the building. She also shared that he was a local business owner. When I asked what business, she said Tom & Jerry’s. I hadn’t noticed before, but he was still wearing a t-shirt for the restaurant. The name Tom & Jerry’s was proudly displayed on the back of his shirt.
As a business owner, Texas law regarding smoking should have been common knowledge to this gentleman. This behavior was disrespectful and unexpected for someone who should be representing the brand. Additionally, ruining the experiences of other guests at another restaurant intentionally while wearing repping your brand is unprofessional and damages the reputation of your brand. For me, the damage is complete, and this post here is affirmation of that.
My family visits the island frequently, and typically, we enjoy our visits. Many businesses on the island are supported by tourism. It’s says a lot about how this business owner perceives the general public if this is how he is choosing to represent himself and his business. Being a local and a business owner does not a permit you to break the law. It also doesn’t take much to be a...
Read moreSolid Spot with Great Food & Atmosphere!
I've been to Tom & Jerry’s Bar and Grill a couple of times now, and overall, I really enjoy the place. The food is great, the drinks are solid, and the atmosphere is exactly what you’d want in a bar and grill—lively, comfortable, and well-set up. I especially like the raised bar area compared to the restaurant seating below; it adds a nice dynamic to the space.
First Visit – Excellent Service
The first time I went, I sat in the bar area at a table, where I was served by Melia, who was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and checked in often to make sure I had everything I needed. I ordered the Texas Turkey Melt and a couple of drinks, and she made sure my drinks were always topped off. She had a great attitude and really made the experience enjoyable. That visit left a really positive impression.
Second Visit – Hit-or-Miss Service at the Bar
The second time I visited, I sat at the actual bar, and the service wasn’t as great. It was a slow afternoon with only a couple of other people at the bar, so I expected a little more attention from the bartender Shane. When we first sat down, he got us drinks and menus, but then it was about 30 minutes before he even checked back to take a food order. Unfortunately, he kept disappearing for long periods, sometimes leaving us sitting with empty drinks for 10-20 minutes at a time. It wasn’t enough to completely ruin the experience, but it was quite the contrast compared to the great service I had the first time. I ordered the Cobb Salad and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Mexican Plate and was equally pleased.
Overall Thoughts
