If you are looking for good food, great atmosphere and a wide variety of options, this is not the place for you. I went to this restaurant with high hopes since it was soul food, but it was regret when I got my food home. I ordered the fried ribs, greens, mac and cheese, cream corn, fried okra, chicken and dressing, and two slices of sweet potato pie.
Now, where do I begin, the greens had a pungent smell and taste like it was spoiled, the cream corn was watery and lacked seasoning, the mac and cheese was super greasy and flavorless but yet somehow tasted like cardboard and I've never tasted cardboard before.
The dressing would have been okay if it didn't have the hardest celery this side of the Mason Dixon in it and cranberry sauce ( who runs out of cranberry sauce?). The chicken in the dressing was over cooked and tasteless and omg the fried ribs........they were over cooked, hard, and lacked any kind of seasoning and the size of your pointing finger. Now, I did call them to tell them my ribs were over cooked and hard and they were willing to redo them but I opted for a different meal in hopes that it would be better but nooooo, still no better.
I replaced my meal with the hamburger steak and rice. The hamburger steak were more like giant meatballs, hard on the outside and pink on the inside, like how is that possible. The rice lacked flavor, they said they added gravy but when I looked at the plate I saw that the gravy was like water.
To be fair, the dessert and the corn bread was good. The fried okra would have been good if it just had a little seasoning and the two young ladies at the counter were really nice but that's it. This place is a good example of all cooks are good cooks. Just because one or two people like your cooking doesn't mean everyone will. Maybe after a few months or so things...
Read moreWell, I made two trips in one....my first and last. This place is a joke. To charge these prices for this slop is flat out insulting. I sincerely wish that I would have kept my $55 and just ate a frozen pizza. I don't even know where to start. First, I wanted the 2 pc. fried chicken which should obviously be a breast and wing. But, they only had wings. However, I still would have only gotten two. This makes no sense. So, I went with the fried pork chops. They actually weren't too bad. Could have been better, but they weren't awful. Second, vegetables should be seasoned and seasoned right. But, I couldn't tell that they were seasoned at all. The Mac n Cheese should just be called Mac. I don't know where the cheese is. It was dry and tasteless. Third, they served me something that had the texture of a baseball and called it cornbread. Besides the texture, it was also tasteless. Last, there is a huge difference in homemade banana pudding and instant pudding with bananas and wafers mixed into it. And, the bananas were totally brown. They should have been used for banana nut bread, not pudding. I mean, this place flat out insults your intelligence and charges you a hefty fee to do it. Please save your money and just watch this place fail. Trust me, it took this place longer to open than it will to go out...
Read moreI typically don't take the time to write reviews, but this was a must. I went to this restaurant excited to finally try it. I ordered chicken and dressing, chicken breast, macaroni & cheese and sweet potatoes casserole with corn bread. I also ask for a slice of cake but the cake was $7 plus dollars and the food was only $15- I didn't see value in paying that much for a thin slice of cake so I removed it. This food was the worst I have EVER had from a SOUL FOOD establishment. The dressing was VERY BLEND- NO TASTE and soupy, the chicken had no season at all, the macaroni had no taste, and they need to take that SWEET POTATOE CASSEROLE completely off the menu. Piccadilly food has way more taste then this. All the effort & energy to bring a SOUL FOOD restaurant to Southaven and this is what yall give us. A COMPLETE waste of money & energy. You can't call your self a SOUL FOOD restaurant and leave ALL the soul out the food. I normal go back but after reading the reviews this is their norm- I wish I had read the reviews before going. If you DONT like your food seasoned this is your spot. If you enjoy tasty food you WILL be disappointed. I pray they make adjustments and listen to the customers we ALL can't be...
