Disclaimer: They have been open less than a week. My husband and I dined in restaurant Thursday July 25. They were crowded which we expected. The host staff at front seemed disorganized. The young man was clearly overwhelmed and we watched him slam down the phone at least 3 times in frustration when he got off a call. He tried to be friendly but could not mask his frustration. We asked for a table and were told to wait while he answered the phone. A girl came up and asked if we needed a table then said let me clear you one off and disappeared. When the young man got off his call he asked again if we needed a table and my husband told him the girl had gone to clean a table. I sat down on the bench and about 8 minutes after disappearing, the girl came back, completely forgot she was helping us and asked if we needed a table. Another staff member came up while she was looking at tables (again) and asked who was next. My husband said we were waiting and he took our name and number to put on the wait list (no one had already done this in the 10 minutes we had been there). The 3 staff members stepped to the side to have a conversation when the girl was instructed to go clean off tables...sigh. After another 5 minutes or so we were sat in the bar area. It was so loud in there (really everywhere in the restaurant) think of a bar and grille switching over to night club loud. Music was AC/DC on blast and someone finally turned it down. Our waitress was friendly. My husband got a classic and I got Detroit style. All I can say is both were bland and nothing special that warranted $21-$22 price tag. We got cheese fries and those were good. When we left, the host was still stressed out and ran into my husband as he was flying around a blind corner. I hope the kinks get worked out and it becomes less chaotic. Also it would have been nice to see a manager on the floor helping to give direction. I would like to try the pasta but probably won't venture out on any pizza again. Cheese Fries ✅ Classic Meat Feast ❌ Detroit Style Garlic...
Read moreSo this is another gem in the same area as Fire Birds, Tekila (you can see to the left), etc. Decided to give these guys a try. Ordered a beer with some lime, totally forgot the brand, sounded appealing since it came with lime, I was in.
I started off with some Dynamite Shrimps, ordered them grilled and in my opinion, too much seasoning on them, you can see from the picture. I think I ate like four. Wanted to try something else, ordered the soup of the day Chicken Tortilla, it had one piece of chicken lol. I think it needed a spoon of sour cream on top, presentation was a bit sloppy. Shifted gears and ordered The Big Apple pizza. Presentation was beautiful but after the second slice I was done! The ricotta after the second slice overpowers the pizza which to me as a New Yorker was no good. I even offered two tables a slice, stating I was a clean person and nobody took a slice which was surprising to me for a well put pizza. The crunch on the pizza is there, and it held up nicely even though every slice has a big chunk of ricotta. I think toning it down can bring out the rest of the flavors.
I thought it was cool, you get to keep the plastic cup.
I will visit these guys again and perhaps order half cheese and half pep. We will see how that goes.
Place is pretty comfortable, accommodates large groups, patio section to enjoy the outdoors and the bar which was on an elevated section with a few screens showing sports.
Let’s just say, I would...
Read moreWelcome to Southaven! We visited at 5:30 on a Saturday night. The parking lot had a few spaces and the hostess seated us promptly. The menu is varied with something for everyone. My wife's Blue Moon had a slice of orange which is always nice. The food arrived promptly and was hot. She had lasagna which was a generous portion but not as good as Avellino's (which is a pretty high bar). I had chicken alfredo. It could have had a little more flavor but while there was sufficient chicken, I didn't expect it to be shredded.
Jorge was our server. He never took his toothpick out of his mouth. The payment process was confusing. Jorge asked us if we wanted to pay there (with his terminal) or if we wanted a receipt. I wanted a receipt. He disappeared and returned with a receipt and then presented me with his terminal and left. I completed the process on the terminal including asking for a printed receipt. I kinda expected the terminal to print a receipt but it didn't. Jorge returned and picked up the terminal and asked if we needed anything else. At that point, we just left. More clarity with the payment process would have...
