The last time that I had Whataburger was in December 2012,when I traveled to Arlington TX, for the Cowboys/Steelers game.I couldn't wait for one to open locally ,since it had been 10 years since my last experience, and before that 30 years in 1988 prior to me joining the military. There used to be one in my old neighborhood of Frayser, and that was the one I'm referencing to.At any rate I decided to beat the crowd on my day (7/23/22)off ,and try out the newly opened one on Goodman road.I arrived at the ordering machine at exactly 530am & ordered a triple burger with triple cheese, a chocolate shake,a small fry and two beef patties on the side for my dog,so he could see what Whataburger was all about and to the pickup window at 615am.This is where things went into left field. My order was wrong.First, the young lady with the braces at the window informed me that there wasn't any shakes, which she could've told me before I ordered.Secondly, instead of the patties on the side for my dog, they were added on to my burger which is not what I wanted and had explained several times during the ordering process. She asked me what fountain drink I would like as a replacement for the shake ,so I begrudgingly chose an orange drink. She instructed me to pull up so they could remake my burger and I tried to give the 5 pattie burger back, but she stated they do not accept returns ,so I pulled forward and threw it in the trash. She had told me that she would bring my corrected order out but that did not occur. At 630am,a pretty light complexioned employee came out and asked me if everything was okay and I informed her that it wasn't.She asked me to pull into a parking area and that she would correct my order. This employee was very courteous and appeared to be coming on shift.I decided to go inside and was met by a young light complexioned male employee with braids who asked me if everything was okay and I explained the situation to him as well.At the same time,a caucasian gentleman I assumed to be the manager appeared and I explained to him about the milkshake as well as how long I had been there.Within a few minutes,my order was corrected with a chocolate shake and I departed Whataburger at exactly 7am.Ninety minutes after my arrival.Mind you the line was not long (five cars in front of me),but apparently the nightshift staff is not as dedicated to customer service as the oncoming dayshift. It's too early in the game being that this location hasn't been open two weeks to use the "out of order milkshake machine"excuse, and at least inform paying customers when they are ordering if the product is unavailable.I gave this experience a one star based upon the nightsift but I commend the the three aforementioned employees who went above and beyond to rectify my issue.I ultimately enjoyed my meal and my dog did as well, but I made a mental note to only frequent Whataburger during dayshift hours. The nightshift may benefit from remedial customer service training.Remember:First impressions are lasting impressions, and that reflects on the...
Read moreWe placed our order and had to wait 20 minutes (eating inside) just to get our order to be completely wrong. (We were the only people waiting for food at the time inside) I have never had this experience at any Whataburger I’ve been too. It should be noted that while we were waiting we saw at least 5 employees leave for the night taking food with them, that I’m assuming was correct, hot and fresh; while my fiancé and I received incorrect sandwiches and cold fries. Along with incorrect orders, the lady who brought our food spoke and acted like she’d rather be anywhere else (I work in retail so I get it, but you gotta fake it in front of the customers..) and also nearly slammed the tray full of condiments onto our table (& almost our hands and phones), looking at us like we were stupid for being startled and almost smacked with thick plastic.
The male manager on duty, who I spoke to to get our order fixed, insured me we would get our plain cheese burger and plain spicy chicken sandwich for free. It came out about 10 minutes later; the chicken sandwich was still wrong and my burger tasted old or not fully cooked. We left. So much wasted food that we couldn’t even give away because we had touched it already checking to make sure it was right.
I’ll be happy when the other locations open, so hopefully this location will be less burdened with customers and can actually train (or retrain) their employees correctly. For customers: I would suggest waiting until 3 locations are open for a bit before expecting the enjoyable and delicious Whataburger experience that they’re traditionally known for when serving guests in all their other locations, especially further south in MS. We will not be returning to this...
Read moreBe prepared to wait and get skipped. First of all, come with a full tank of gas- you will certainly need it as the MINIMUM wait in the drive thru is 1hr - 1.5hr. This was my 2nd visit but the had the same problem as before... the outer lane is the favored one. You will literally have 6-8 cars that were behind you (chose that lane) go ahead of you while you continue to sit and wait. Very frustrating! The first time it happened I let it go, but the 2nd visit UGH. They have workers in the lane but they would rather stand around or double up in one lane then make sure both are running smoothly. Come on now yall. The food is okay not quite as good as the FL and TX locations but I definitely give E for effort. The fries were waaay to salty but the burger was ok. Overall I say give them a try but come with patience and definitely NOT an empty stomach or gas tank. Good luck 👍🏾
EDIT: After 2 hours of waiting... my food was ice cold! Burger was like one from Sonic but COLD.. fries were like McDonald's... again COLD... apple pie was like Popeyes but without the cinnamon and sugar, but it was the only thing that was hot. Smh... dropping the stars to a 2. Get it together guys we did not wait 30+ years for the "great return " for this mess. I have gone in the AM and prime time afternoon both were subpar but today was unacceptable 😖. If it's like this during the day I'd hate to try over in the evening or late night. Hopefully once the hype dies down they can regroup and...
