LA 91 — Restaurant in Southaven

Yesterday we tried this place out after watching some Tik Tok videos and reading the Google reviews. I must truly say, this is my kind of place. I am always on the search for what I call my people. For me this means good genuine people. Well we went for the food, but the owner and his family were amazing! We had the blackened catfish with macaroni, the chicken Alfredo, and the Big Daddy burger with fries. The owner introduced me to the young man the Big Daddy burger was named after, and knew this had to be a big burger. All of our food was great. I probably would opt for the Cajun pasta next time, however if you don’t want the extra spice, go for the regular Alfredo. They loaded it down with lots of well seasoned grilled chicken. The catfish was very well seasoned! Delicious for sure. My wife didn’t like the Mac and cheese, however I did, and I’m not a Big Mac and cheese person. The Big Daddy burger was definitely big, yet they still maintained a great juicy and seasoned burger. I had it dressed with everything and pepper jack cheese 🧀. We all ended up eating the fries. They were so good. If you are looking for great food that’s being cooked and served by a great family, go check this place out. They are conveniently located next to the Malco Theater. So next time you head to the movie, save some room to eat here. Great local food and great local people. Now if they did breakfast, I may have to move to Southaven for that. Check em out!

I HATE a disorganized restaurant.

I called in for 2 Full Explosions with Fried Greens at 5:54pm. They made me pay $52.80 over rhe phone and said it would be ready in 25 minutes.

I got there 40 minutes later and at 6:52pm they're telling me they weren't even aware of the ticket and had not made the food yet.

This place was SO much better ran when it was back on Mendenhall and called East Memphis Pizza and Subs.

They've gotten too big and cannot handle this kind of customer capacity and it shows.

I don't think I'll be coming back here again and I wouldn't have waited for the food if they hadn't made me pay for it over the phone when I placed the order.

The one cashier stopped taking orders in front of a huge line of customers and then the chef walked out to say they're on a 2 hour wait and will not be taking any more orders.

Ridiculous experience. Cartoon restaurant for sure.

I'll update WHENEVER I finally get the food to report if it was even good enough to be worth all of this disarray.

UPDATE:

It was not worth it. All potato. No seasonings. HELLA greasy. Barely any toppings. Over cooked shrimp. Under cooked bacon. Wilted broccoli.

Don't get me started on the fried green limp discs.

I’ve really been looking forward to trying this place and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I got the full explosion potato and the steak was literally cheap steak ums meat 🤮, the shrimp was hard with no flavor, and I had to pour a ton of salt and pepper on it for it to even have a hint of flavor. I asked for more sour cream thinking that might help and was charged $1 for a tiny pack of sour cream. My son ordered the LA91 burger that was supposed to have fried mozzarella sticks on top. When it came out it had about a teaspoon of mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top. When I asked about it not having the cheese sticks on top they said “oh we are out of cheese sticks.” I would think if someone ordered a burger with cheese sticks on top and you’re out of cheese sticks that would be something you would tell the customer when they ordered the item… My son said the fries were good. The music was a vibe but the food was absolutely terrible…. If you’re looking for flavor, this is not the place to come. I don’t care how good the pictures of the loaded potatoes look, the flavor does not match...
