Smackers — Restaurant in Southaven

This minority owned restaurant is definitely worth the stop for a meal. We had the salmon sandwich and the smacker burger 🍔. We also had fried okra and French fries. For dessert we had cheesecake from City Hall Cheesecake. They pick it up there daily. The salmon sandwich is phenomenal. It had a plethora of flavors going on. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the sauce on it is so tasty. The burger was great as well. Double meat with crispy bacon and a fried egg on top. The burger was juicy and tasty. It was grilled to perfection. The fried okra was seasoned very well, not too salty but just right. The French fries were good, however a fresh cut fry would just set the entire meal off. The cheesecake came from City Hall Cheesecakes. I had the strawberry drizzle on mine. The staff here were very friendly and professional. They all deserve a raise! I would say this sets them apart from fast food joints for sure. This is an A+ minority owned restaurant! We had to wait a short time, but the food was so fresh and tasty. The bathrooms were small, but very clean. It’s apparently a local favorite. They had a steady flow of pick up orders while we were there. Will definitely be back to try some more of what they have to offer, which is a lot. Definitely something...

Overall, probably a really nice place to eat, but our visit has a few disappointmenta. Let's start with the good: the employees are SUPER nice and fun to interact with!! Very service focused. They want to make sure you are happy. The food was very good. The toppinga on my burger were AMAZINGLY fresh and wasn't cheap iceburg lettuce. The meat was tasty but I feel like it could have used more seasoning? Maybe some crusting (Maillard reaction) like on smash burger? The not so good: we were all set to enjoy a brisket burger (3 of 6 in our party) but they were out of coleslaw. Not the same without coleslaw (personal preference). No biggie, I was gonna order a Philly steak to go, so I'll just order that. Sorry, out of steak too! 😞 Thus we had to order the burgers as read above. Lastly, they offer Military Discount (TY Smackers!) but due to installation of a new system she was unable to apply it?? Can't give half stars, otherwise it would probably be closer to 3.5 HOWEVER, that can easily change (up or down) on next visit. We live about 35-40 minutes away so it may be a while, and I would have to call ahead to ensure they have stuff available. Definitely worth going. Would love to try...

I came, for the very first time, on Friday 6/9/23 to place an order. The young lady at the front counter was quite rude and lacked customer service skills...then she just left and never returned. When my order was finally ready, another young lady gave it to me. Fast forward, I just left there today 6/13/23, picking up a "to go" order and that "same" rude young lady was up front waiting on customers, including waiting on me. I can tell you once thing, if you want your business to be ruined and lose customers, have someone "like this" greeting customers and taking orders. You will be out of business in NO TIME. The facility is very clean and everyone else working fixing the food seems polite and are all smiles. Some customer service training would do that young lady a world of good. After today, I don't even think or know if I want to return. When paying your money, you would like to be treated as if your money and you as a person, customer, is valued. Oh, today I asked this same young lady for ketchup and she said "it's in the bag" in a rude way....guess what?????? I just looked after getting home and it's NOT in the bag after all. Thank God I have ketchup here at home...
