8:30 am…I arrived at my graduate school, ready to tackle on the day. The morning air was crisp and quite cool despite being late-July. As I took a seat, ready to begin lecture, I heard a rumble. It was my stomach. I had forgotten to eat breakfast and bring any lunch. As I am overweight, i figured it would be an opportunity to, again, restrict my calorie intake. Lecture ended at about 4-5pm. I felt extremely famished and exhausted from my low blood sugar. Nevertheless, I wanted an adventure and was feeling spontaneous. I looked up “best hibachi and sushi in North Carolina,” and Susa Sushi + Hibachi appeared. I immediately turned on the engines and raced down the relaxing highway at blazing speeds…you could say…I was burning rubber…baby. As expected, as soon as my sweaty, famished, exhausted-self walked through the door, I was greeted in multiple ways. First by the cool, crisp AC that reminds you of the fresh, clean hotel percale sheets. Second, by Casey, who was great. Dehydrated, yet wet—ha…the juxtaposition—from the summer heat. I decided to order 3 items. The spicy avocado salad. Refreshing, crisp, sweet, and just the right amount of spice. The chicken and steak hibachi. White sauce…immaculate. Steak…juicy, tender, perfectly cooked w a beautiful sear. Chicken…moist and tender. Finally, the Sara roll. Fried beautifully golden, fresh tasting fish, with a beautiful aioli to top. As I am now approaching 700 lbs after eating all this food, I can say happily, that because of this restaurant, “I live to eat, not...
Read moreMy husband and I came here after reading all the good reviews and we were not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. She checked in with us several times to make sure our drinks were filled and that we liked everything. I had the caterpillar roll, which was well-made (not falling apart like some restaurants), and had lots of eel and cucumber in the middle. I especially liked that there were several pieces of cucumber, not just one or two, because it gave the roll a great texture. I also REALLY appreciated that the roll had a little bit of sauce drizzled over it, as opposed to being drowned in a sauce so you can't taste anything! My husband had the tempura and soba noodles. The noodles were delicious in a light but flavorful beef broth. The tempura was good, though the batter was heavier than what I'm used to. My husband, on the other hand, loved the heavier batter :D He also had the octopus sashimi (I forget the word for it), and he said it was delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in the area. It's nice to go to a place where the food is fresh and delicious, but has a laid-back atmosphere and great service! We will definitely be...
Read moresushi is definitely the best in town but the service will lose your business. To avoid waiting for a to go order, we tried to call 7 times and kept getting the fax machine or something. We went there and I mentioned to the hostess that something must be wrong with their phone. She replied that they put it on mute or something when they are busy. Great business plan. So I ordered our take out and was told 20 minutes. 3 or 4 tables open. Definitely not packed. I come back in after 15 minutes and sit to wait. The hostess brings out 2 bags and places it in pickup 1, passing right in front of me. I figured that she would tell me if it was mine. I’m wearing a mask. You can’t miss me. She said nada. Five minutes later, another server parks something in slot 2. Says nothing to me. So I approach the register and ask if either was mine. She asked my name and I told her. She told me my order was in slot 1. I asked the hostess who was standing right there and who brought it out: “you took my order, I was sitting right there when you brought it out and walked right past me… why couldn’t you tell me?” Her answer was “oh we are busy”. Glasses and a black braid. Do better. Please. You have too good of food to lose business with...
