Young Young Chinese Buffet — Restaurant in Southington

I went to this place yesterday at 7pm. The place was quite and clean. The waitress was okay but defiantly walked with an attitude. The host behind the register was good though.

We got seated and I ordered a lemonade. One of the worst lemonade I've ever had you're better off with just water as I don't drink soda.

Got up to get a plate of food. Very small variety. The rice was bland with no flavor, overcooked, and just clumps of rice in a ball. Not the best idea to have made it in a crockpot.

The General Tso was soggy and cold. Teriyaki and steak was also cold. The best thing I had off my plate was broccoli but even that was cold too.

I then told the host about the experience and showed her where I was seated and why there was a plate full. I explained to her that their heating system wasn't working properly if everything was cold. Then, cared to explain to her that some of that food was definitely not fresh such as the General Tso which was cold and soggy.

She agreed with me on all the complaints acknowledging this isn't the first time that they've received these same complaints. I got my check cut in half and they gave me a fortune cookie. I took a bite of it in the car, and I kid you not that was the slatelest cookie I've ever had. I spit it out on the side of the road.

I have been going here for 15 years. Up until new ownership took over roughly 2-4 years ago it was a fantastic experience. It has since declined and continued to decline to the point where I went from refusing to eat chinese food from anywhere else to no longer going here at all. Not only has the food quality declined, but the owners and employees have ruined every part of this place from leaving food out in the buffet until its cold and not replacing it with fresh food (if anything just piling more food on top), to loudly playing videos on their phone that disrupts anyone inside trying to eat their meal, to worst of all declining to answer the phone and serve customers in the evening during open hours due to laziness. It is an absolute disgrace of a restaurant now, and it truly pains me to say this because they were my favorite restaurant of all time at one point. This is what poor ownership and a lack of passion for your business/place of employment will do if left unchecked. Don’t waste your time here. I was new to the area, and the reviews I had seen here and elsewhere had given me pause-but I went to try it and I am glad I did. Much of what you will read in the reviews is out of date. There are no paper or Styrofoam plates (except the to go boxes.) The buffet was well stocked. The place was quite busy. Everything I ate (and I tried many items) was hot and fully cooked. The food was tasty, and there was a decent variety. I stayed a long time, and saw the buffet constantly being restocked. It is an extremely reasonable value for the price. One of the least expensive buffets I have ever seen. If you're looking for a gourmet Chinese meal, what are you doing at a buffet? If you are looking for a good deal and satisfying food, I'd highly recommend you give this place a try. I continue to eat here on a regular basis, and I continue to be satisfied with the food.
