Here is an honest review. My dad got me these two desserts: the acorn and the Pina Colada one to try because I've never had this place before. Visually, both desserts looked absolutely stunning! I had never seen a dessert that look like this in person. I would definitely read it a 10 out of 10 for its visuals.
First, I will review the acorn one. Honestly, this one is probably the one that tanked the rating the most for me. I felt like I was eating just a large Ferrero Rocher, there was nothing really exciting about the flavor. The cake was located at the top of the acorn which felt kind of difficult to eat and I wasn't able to scoop all of the mousse and caramel with the cake; plus the cake was dry - maybe because it was placed on top. The worst part of it was that the center of the acorn (a salted caramel nut mixture?) was probably the saltiest thing I've ever eaten. It felt like there was 2 tablespoons of kosher salt in the center. I'm assuming this is just an error for this batch, however, it make the rest of the dessert inedible for me (which is sad, bc my dad spent money on this dessert). (1/5)
Next, the Pina Colada one. This one was significantly better than the acorn one. I actually felt like the cake was moist and the flavors were pretty good! The center was a little bit sour but I felt like that offset the sweet mousse and the cake pretty well! The chocolate on the outside was really thin which I enjoyed thoroughly and I know how hard it is to get it that thin! I really liked this one a lot. I haven't tried the other desserts, but if you were to try one I would definitely recommend this one! (4/5)
Overall, I think that these desserts tasted good and they were absolutely stunning to look at! However, I felt like it was 60% visuals/40% taste. What I mean by this is that I think that the pull for this product will definitely be the visuals and the atmosphere. However, I don't really see myself going back to get another dessert - mainly because of the price, but also because I think there are better tasting desserts at other bakeries that may not look as visually beautiful, but in my opinion taste better/are cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I believe the pricing is fair for the amount of work that goes into the visuals in the amount of components in each dessert, I just can't see myself buying it frequently!
Definitely recommend going here at least...
Read moreI came to this spot after seeing it all over TikTok — it looked fun, trendy, and unique, so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t match the hype.
Crowded, Hot, and Uncomfortable When we arrived, the line was long and extended outside into the heat. The building itself is really small, so there’s no space inside to wait. Everyone was just packed together, shoulder to shoulder, both outside and once you got inside. It felt chaotic and overwhelming.
Even once we made it in, there didn’t seem to be any A.C. or air circulation — it was warm, stuffy, and uncomfortable. After standing outside in the heat, you’d at least expect to feel some relief once inside, but that wasn’t the case.
Rushed at the Counter After waiting in line, we were immediately asked, “What do you want?” with no greeting or chance to catch our breath. I understand the staff wants to keep the line moving, but the rushed tone didn’t feel welcoming. The prices of the desserts were on the higher side — some around $11 or more — so I think customers should be given a moment to decide without being rushed or stared at.
Desserts Looked Better Than They Tasted The desserts were definitely aesthetically pleasing and TikTok-worthy, but the taste didn’t live up to the presentation — or the price. It was okay at best. For how hyped-up the place is and how far people travel to visit, I was expecting something much more memorable. My associate and I both agreed that it wasn’t anything we’d want to return for, even if the prices were lower.
Final Thoughts This spot might be fun to try once just to say you did it, but in my opinion, it’s more about the aesthetic than the actual quality or customer experience. Between the overcrowded space, heat, lack of air, rushed service, and average-tasting desserts, I left feeling...
Read moreD'Caramel Patisserie had been at the top of my list of pastry shops to visit for a while. The shop is small with a few seating spaces inside. The ambiance is modern and upscale.
First, I'll start with the hot coffee latte. It was smooth and the perfect match with the sweets. Next, the Viennoiserie croissant pastries. Each one was massive with a cream, fruit coulis, frangipane, or ganache filling. Good luck choosing just one. I highly recommend the strawberry chocolate croissant, pistachio and coconut NY rolls.
Each pastry was beautifully shaped, fresh, and packed with flavors. Fillings included a rich, silky mousse, crèmeux, ganache, compote, or coulis. They were all pretty good. But, when it comes to this particular pastry category, the strawberry vanilla mousse takes the crown! It was smooth and perfectly balanced with an almond biscuit, vanilla mousse, strawberry compote, and lemon ganache. A staff member recommended the piña colada. It was my second favorite item.
The two young ladies assisting me were polite and attentive. I was told they have new items during the holidays. The line moves fast unless you get behind someone with questions who can't make up their mind on what to order.
Note: Yes, these delicious, adorable pastries are packed with flavor. However, they're expensive and many of the small fruit-shaped desserts aren't worth the price tag. I recommend going to their website to see what's included in each pastry before heading...
