Tried this version of what felt like a subtle southern approach and style of the local Chick-fil-a on our way home and will say it's not a place we will come back to quickly.
Outside the glaringly bright menu in the drive through, squinting our eyes in the night ambiance, almost needing sunglasses, the staff was friendly, polite, and smiling, food was properly cooked, sauces added taste and interest, but other than that, it was tepid & stale real fries, bread slices that will do the body no good, but we knew that coming in, we took a bite, and the taste, texture, temperature, was one bite and done, and although we tried to eat the fries within seconds of getting them in drive through, they were stale and tepid, the chicken (Grilled) was somewhat soggy where kids took one bite and that was over quick, but I can see how some would like the almost tres leches texture and softness approach to the grilled chicken, i think we just are not fans or used to it.
If we are in a rush and need a drive through, we will stick with Chick-fil-a fries, as per consistency, but this does give the finger licking chicken fans another option in the area.
I can see the appeal if your style is a little more southern slim chicken style, I'm sure it's a great place for some, and maybe we graduated from the 50+ ingredients in a Chick-fil-a sandwich type restaurants (not the best for the body in our growing opinion and understanding) where the body will adapt to the almost nutrition-less food - but if you are in a rush, and insist on hot fries, and need a quick meal, this is another proper choice - but this is going to be a last resort option if in a pickle for us.
I'm sure the salads and other menu items could update this to another star at some point when in a hurry, but it deserves a solid 3 stars for it's fresh new building, friendly staff, and solid menu for it's category.
It is time to open a drive-through restaurant that focuses on quality, not quantity, and precisions cooking times for always fresh food (so the customer doesn't have to ask for it every time), and ownerships willing to look at using ingredients that are not cheap and potentially long term consumption, not healthy for...
Read moreSlims Chicken in Spanish Fork showed alot of promise. I had heard alot about slims and was excited to try it. Ill break this review up in to segments to explain it all.
The Food. The Food is really good. Much better then some of the similar chicken eateries in the County. Canes comes to mind. The Strawberry Cheesecake Jar is just FANTASTIC.
The Service. The kids behind the counter are doing their jobs and Ive never had an issue with anyone at the Register. The issues with Service come with the people who actually bring you your food. There are two or three people who dont speak English AT ALL. I have been to Slims nearly 12 times since they've opened and all but twice I have had the wrong order given to me. It wouldnt be a big deal if it was a meal for someone I was sitting with but Ive had orders given to me from people I dont know. Every single time, one of the servers comes over, grabs the number given to you when you place your order and hands you a plate, when you say something like "Oh this isnt my order" or "Im sorry but I dont think this is mine" They just go "Okay, Okay, Okay" and they procced to take your number away and then you never get your food until you say something at the register and even then you may still not get your food correct. They need a better system of getting food to people. The Spanish Speakers and Numbers dont work.
The Prices. Frankly while the food is good, Slims has no right to charge what they do for less. You pay almost 4 dollars more for the Chicken wings then you do the strips. And these arent big wings either.
Overall, Slims chicken has good food but is plauged by odd service choices and high prices. Still good every now and...
Read moreHonest review: Good chicken! Great service, and doing so well for having just opened up! Chicken itself had good flavor, very moist and tender, could tell they use a plethora of MSG, but hard to find anyplace that doesn’t use it.
The sauces were ok, our favorite of the four we got where the BBQ, and Slims sauce.
The desert jars were not too great but had a unique spin, mostly cool whip, but the reusable jar with lid is pretty cool (not worth the price) they had a tasty addition of some ‘quality’ candy-crumbles (small amount, but made a difference). The shake was to be expected, nothing terribly notable but good enough flavor. The fries were ok, I thought flavor was good but partner thought they were very under-seasoned (but I think that’s just because everything else was over seasoned).
The fried pickles were not good 👎 wayyyyy too salty, and the pickles themselves are paper thin.. if the pickles were a thicker cut then maybe the coating would be good, but otherwise that was WAY too overpowering, almost inedible.
Prices are a bit over the top for what you’re getting. But not unexpected.
If they offered JUST chicken option on the menu (without charging $13 for a few pieces of chicken and a bunch of salted carbs) this place would be great! We spend about $50 for two slim meals, a shake, a desert jar, and fried pickles😵💫. We could have gone to a chuck a Rama for that price and got about the same quality with more variety… which in hindsight probably should have done.
Offer just chicken option on the menu and make yourselves comparable to the other chicken joints in the area in that way, cause you’re quality/taste is better...
