We are regulars at The Italian Place. They make the best sandwiches hands down! Everyone has always been kind in there until they recently hired a girl that is absolutely awful to deal with. So awful that we will not go back if she is there. I called ahead and ordered by phone a sandwich for my son and I, she said it would be ready in 20 minutes. We got there I went inside and got our food and went back out to the car to eat in the parking lot. When I sat down in my car my daughter decided after all that she was hungry. I'm trying to enjoy my hot lunch so I call into the restaurant to place an order for 1 sandwich. I tell the girl I was just inside, I am now in the parking lot and my daughter wants a sandwich now. So, I want to order her food and I will come inside and get it when she tells me it will be ready because I want to enjoy my lunch while it is hot. She was shockingly rude! She tells me to come inside and order if I want to place an order. I said excuse me!? She proceeds to tell me she has customers in line inside and she will not be taking my order. What!?!?! I said what would you do if I didn't tell you I was sitting in your parking lot and she said "I would take your order". I said oh good, I'm not in your parking lot then. I said I don't want to speak with you any more, I do not know what your problem is but please put your manager on the phone. She hung up on me! I went inside and asked to speak with the manager and with a whole lot of attitude she tells me that she is the manager! Then the cook next to her starts in on me as well, he is also raising his voice at me. I told them all I wanted to do was order a sandwich, and they said I could leave their restaurant because they would not be making a sandwhich for me. They had a line behind me of customers listening, and customers sitting in their eating their food and they were treating me (one of their customers) with such disrespect it was jaw dropping. A very kind man in the back that was seeing all of this go on came up front and kindly asked me what was wrong and what he could do to make things right. As he was talking with me she was telling him I was lieing and he better not take my order. She was actually insane, her behavior was something I have never experienced before in a public place. He told her to stop and that we were regulars and he would be helping me and she told him he was going to be in big trouble and she started calling someone and walked out back. This kind man made our sandwhich himself, didn't charge me and apologized for her behavior. I told him I hope he doesn't lose his job for doing the right thing and thanked him. This is not the first time this girl has been rude either. She was rude to my kids the last time they went there without me. We love this place so much but if I have to chance dealing with her ever again we will never go back. I hope they fire her because the way she treats their customers will take their...
Read moreI came in and asked for a sandwich, and upon changing some of the contents of the sandwich, I could tell immediately that the kid behind the counter was getting angry at something. I asked for it with a large combo, insinuating that I wanted a large drink. He said he didn't understand, but I could tell he was giving me attitude right away. I repeated myself and he kurtly replied "this isn't a fast food place - we don't have large combos here. Do you want chips and a soda?" I responded "... yes..." To which he replied "Then you should have said that you wanted the '#2 Combo'." "I told you I wanted a combo, how was that not right?" "You didn't say it right."
This got me pretty angry, fast. I told him to quit trying to teach me what to say and to get me the #2 combo. He wrote it down with more attitude, and then began to ring me up. He took my card and began to repeat the order. He began to run my card as he explained that I should have told him that I wanted the #2, which comes with chips and a regular drink, because "most people say that when they want those things." I corrected him again, explaining that I wanted a large drink, to which he kurtly stated "you didn't tell me that. Most people say that they want a large drink when they want one." I got angry at this point, and told him to give me my money back. He handed me the receipt, smirking, and said "it's too late, I already ran the card."
I was in shock, because I've never encountered a situation like this - and I've even worked in fast food. The other kid came over and asked what was going on, but I didn't want to make this a bigger deal. There were people behind me and I didn't feel like I'd get anywhere, in the moment.
Luckily, the other kid (the nice one) made my food and made it well. I ate and left, but will never be returning. I recommended strictly avoiding this location. If you really want the Italian Place, Orem has a great location. Do not support...
Read moreAmazing Cheesesteak, Even Better Customer Service! Today, I was recommended to try the Italian place on Main Street in Spanish Fork for their famous cheesesteak sandwiches, and I have to say—it lived up to the hype! I got there early, just as they were opening for lunch, and was immediately impressed by the friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
What truly stood out, though, was the owner. Despite the hustle of getting the restaurant ready for the day, he took the time to greet me, ask about my business, and even chat with me about welding and other shared interests. That kind of personal touch is rare, and it shows just how much he cares about his customers.
And the food? Absolutely incredible. This was hands-down the best Philly cheesesteak sandwich I’ve ever had—perfectly seasoned, loaded with flavor, and cooked to perfection. I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other sandwiches he recommended.
This is more than just a great spot for lunch—it's a hidden gem in Spanish Fork, run by someone who genuinely cares about his customers and his community....
