⭐️⭐️⭐️ – “App fails, staff glares, burger slaps (kinda).”
"Come for the mozzarella sticks, stay because the app won’t let you leave."
On our way to Salt Lake City for a night with Collective Soul, Live, and Our Lady Peace at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre, we had a choice: gamble on overpriced venue food that’d rob us blind or make a quick stop somewhere that wouldn’t require a second mortgage. Enter Sonic Drive-In, Spanish Fork.
We placed an online order, parked in Spot A, and waited. App didn’t recognize us. Moved to another stall. Still nothing. Third stall? Nada. Like ghosts in the machine. So much for a quick getaway—we ended up in the drive-thru line behind five cars. When we reached the window, the staff looked at us like we’d just asked them to rewrite the app from scratch. Not our fault your tech’s on vacation, Sonic.
Still, for just over $20 (thank you, online deals), we walked away with a mountain of food. And here’s how it stacked up (Rating Value adjusted for fast food scale):
🍔 Cheesy Bacon Supersonic Stack – 7.2 Honestly? Kinda ruled. Greasy in all the right ways, soft buttery bread, and enough bacon to forgive its sins. Over the top, sure—but good over the top. I’d absolutely order this again.
🧀 Mozzarella Sticks – 6.9 Right up there with Arby’s for the fast food mozzarella crown. Golden, gooey, and perfect with marinara. Not revolutionary—but dang satisfying.
🥔 Loaded Tater Tots – 6.5 Started strong. Ended soggy. The chili-cheese-bacon combo was tasty, but the tots turned into a fork-resistant pile of mush in minutes. A textural letdown with good intentions.
🍔 Sonic Cheeseburger – 6.2 Their number one seller, and I truly don’t get it. Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s marketing. Either way, it’s a mid-tier burger that I’d skip next time.
🎧 Service & Experience
Tech issues killed the vibe. We went from efficient mobile order to confused waiting to drive-thru drama. The staff wasn’t rude, but their faces told the story of a system failing everyone involved. Still, props to the kitchen—everything came out hot.
Bottom line: 📱 App was broken, but not our will to eat. 🍔 The Supersonic Stack was worth the detour. 🧀 Mozz sticks slapped. Tots flopped.
Final verdict: Sonic’s still a solid option if you know what to order. Just don’t expect a frictionless experience—or a cheeseburger...
Read moreFood is usually Ok to mostly Ok. Sometimes really good. Occasionally terrible. Service was Ok, but was terrible the last three visits.( Prob not going to be a fourth visit for a while.) I have been ordering through the app to get the 1/2 price drinks lately, and this location is very conveniently located for us. Either their app ordering system is broken or the employees have no idea how to use it. Takes forever for them to prepare it and another forever to deliver it. ( Even just drinks and slushies!)
Edit: There is some young looking kid that works there now that is the absolute WORST! He brings the wrong orders or orders missing items every time he had been working the drive in boards. If anyone says anything he will audibly sigh, roll his eyes and literally stomp away, then he never comes back with your actual order! I pressed the red button and he won't answer. I had to stop another employee coming into work to even get our drinks last time. ( This kid appeared to be the only employee working the front area until this older teen showed up for his shift.)We'd been there over 45min just waiting for drinks. This same kid also replies to any questions or requests with a "Whatever", "How awesome for you!" "I bet you'd like that" and other very condescending remarks for simple requests like the packet of ketchup you ordered with your food, a fork for your coney dog or some napkins they didn't bring with the order. He treated every customer that way while I was there waiting for my order that day. One older couple next to us just left without their food after he brought them the wrong order and treated them the same way he treated us. I would have done the same if I hadn't pre-paid through the app.
Yeah, I get that finding good employees is hard, and this kid appeares to be very young, but this kind of service is ridiculous! Rude, condescending, and just plain unacceptable behavior towards a customer is...
Read moreI used a coupon for a free drink today. When I got to the window, the first thing I said to them was that I had a coupon for a free drink & let them know the coupon states that it includes lemonades, limeades, ocean water & slushes. They said okay & I proceeded to order.
I ordered a blue lemonade slush, got to the window, gave them the coupon then they said, “That’ll be $.” I said, “Why are you charging me? I just gave you the coupon for a free drink.” They said I “added lemon” to a lemonade slush! What?! That makes no sense! I was taken aback and couldn’t help but feel taken advantage of. The employee asked the manager and the manager said there was nothing they could do about it & didn’t even come talk to me.
It’s not even the amount I’m mad about, it’s the principle. I told them FIRST THING I had a coupon for a FREE drink and that’s what I was using. If I then proceeded to order a drink that was “extra,” I would think they would have said, “We can absolutely do that for you but it’ll be extra.” That’s ALL they needed to say! I could have adjusted my order! I don’t like being surprised all of a sudden at the window with needing to pay for something “extra” when I didn’t think it would be! It was just absolutely ridiculous.
I’m shocked at how they handled it KNOWING that in order to use this coupon, I would be writing them a review so here it is! We all could have handled it better but in the end, I paid the extra and drove away. It was just not a good experience. At least the...
