New York Style Pizza it is NOT. Me and my wife both being from New York City were excited to finally have a better option than Venus Pizza. When we arrived the line was a bit long but understandable for a new establishment and excitement surrounding it. Coming through the door it was small on the inside but accommodating. The line to order was tight. When we got to the counter to order we noticed a variety of pizzas by the slice and decided to order two slices each, two with extra cheese and two with extra cheese and sausage only to be informed that you can't add toppings to the slices. That was disappointing we decided to order a whole pie. We ordered a large pie with extra cheese and 1/2 Italian sausage along with two fountain drinks. After paying $28.89 for a large 16" and two drinks, we were given a numbered table marker so our pizza could be delivered to our table when ready. We got our drinks and found ourselves a seat. With it being a new place of business there were many people inside. Customers and wait staff made for a noisy environment but it was okay. The wait for our pizza was extremely long. At one point I went to see how much longer it would be was assured it would be soon. In total we probably waited about 45 minutes to be served. After checking for a second time on our pizza, it finally arrived and OMG it was not like the other pizzas being ordered by guests surrounding us. Our pizza was crispier than a saltine cracker and more charred than a burnt out building. The extra cheese we ordered was non existent and taste was alright but nothing to keep me coming back. I am one and done. For the price and size Bada Bings and City Pizza in Greenville (if you don't mind the drive) gives you 18 inches for a lower price and you can customize your slice. Mind you I haven't tried all of the pizzas at Downtown Pizza so my review is based on what we ordered but, it is a solid two stars for me. Not the Worse but definitely far...
Read moreThis place gave me food poisoning. (warning: TMI) I didn’t enjoy the food when I ate here, but I wasn’t upset enough to leave a review initially. After I had finished my meal I noticed my stomach was upset, but I just assumed it was because the grease didn’t settle well. However, after a day or two of constipation I started having horrible diarrhea and stomach cramps. I’ve never had food poisoning before, so the thought of that being the case didn’t cross my mind until my fiancé said something. Aside from that the food itself was not good. It tasted as though they didn’t cook the tomato sauce and instead added sugar which made it this weird tangy, sweet, watery mess. The pizzas we got were cold as if they had been sitting out for a while. We also ordered the cheese and garlic bread sticks which were super bland. I could, however, still smell the garlic on my breath hours after even though I used mouthwash as soon as I got home. Overall, I will not be eating here again, and I advise you to do the same for the sake...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try out Downtown Pizza and had high hopes for this new place. We ordered the large supreme pizza and cheese garlic bread. The cheese garlic bread was basically a cheese pizza (of course no pizza sauce) and very, very heavy on the garlic that was used. My first slice of supreme pizza and its crust was okay but the rest looked like the pic below which was overcooked and burnt. I called the establishment to let them know that some of the slices were overcooked and burnt and they explained how it would be somewhat charred and that you can ask for your pizza to be “lightly cooked” but I explained “no, these slices are burnt”. I do appreciate their offer to provide us with a new pizza if we came by after I got off the phone with them, but my husband and I just wanted to make them aware of the pizza and declined their gesture. We definitely won’t be returning here and are still on the quest to find a “good pizza place” in...
