Stopped by for dinner with family at the end of June, thinking it would be like the Chilis experience back home in NJ. We used to go often, and the food and service were always great. A friend from Spokane had recommended another really great local restaurant, but we were excited there was actually a Chilis in WA state, and the nostalgia kicked in. (Regrettably) We ended up dining there and, while the food was pretty similar (just much more salty), the service was a disappointment. Everything was ok up until it was time to pay the bill, and the server Annalise mentioned we could pay using the payment machine on the table. However, it was the wrong bill ($100 more than our actual bill). Because we had already paid it thinking it was correct, we mentioned it to Annalise, who said not a problem; she would cancel the transaction and the refund would show up on our card “within 24-48 hours.” A receipt for the cancelled transaction was not provided.
Fast forward to today, the end of August, I was finally able to get my refund…not from the business, but from my credit card company after filing a dispute at the end of June. After we had left the restaurant that night, I checked my account to see if a refund was posted (because as promised, it would be after 24-48 hours). Of course, the money was not there, and I called the restaurant asking to speak with the manager. Keep in mind this was while we were still on vacation, in an area with limited reception. The manager, Chris Brown, informed me he would look into it and that I would be kept up to date and even took down my email and contact info. Not only did I not get any emails, when I tried to call back, he was impossible to reach. Having exhausted all avenues of trying to work it out with the business, I had to contact my credit card company and have them dispute the incorrect charge. That process took two MONTHS (After the first dispute round, Chilis refunded me my actual bill, not the incorrect bill. This resulted in the credit card company having to reopen my case and reach out again to get the full refund. As expected, no response at all from the business the second round, after waiting another whole month, and the credit card company ended up crediting me the difference).
24-48 hours for a refund turned into a nightmare two months of trying to get my money back (and it wasn’t even my bill). It should never have taken that long, and this experience put a damper on all positive experiences with the chain growing up. Never dealt with such poor service in NJ.
Shame on you, Chilis Spokane; this is no way to run a business, and you will continue losing customers if you don’t make changes. Will never dine...
Read moreWe have been to Chili's at Northtown and have always been impressed with the food and service. Before the Lilac parade, we went to the Chili's on Spokane Falls. Even though we saw many tables empty and clean, we were told it would be a 20 to 40 minute wait because the kitchen was backed up and she was trying to slow it down so they could catch up. We could have had a couple of drinks at the table and did not really have to order that soon if this was the case. When we were finally seated, we did order two beers. Our server brought two bottles (which were not really that cold) and I had to actually ask for a glass. She said no one ever asks for a glass and I told her I have never been to a restaurant that won't actually pour it for us. After ordering food (I ordered the 10 oz. steak, medium well and salmon), our server came out and said "They FUBAR'd your steaks and started to cook just a 6 oz and they were cooking a second one so you will get two ounces free." When it arrived, one was more like beef jerky (very, very well done) and the other was cooked how I asked for it and we ordered two more beers. These two were actually warmer then the first two and the water she brought was colder then the beer. When I asked, our server said the coolers don't work like they should and someday, they might fix it.
I didn't drive downtown because I only live 3 miles away, but I did overhear a couple asking about the parking, saying a Mexican restaurant takes the parking off your bill if you present the parking stub. Our server told them everyone pays to park and she can't remove it. The older gentleman said "Well, I will have to leave a smaller tip to make up for it." Well, so much for any more service for them! Instead of asking if they would like a dessert (like I heard the couple talking about), they received their bill.
I will never go back to this Chili's. I will stick with Northtown Chili's. I will usually tip $20.00 or more on a fifty dollar bill, because I appreciate good service and good food. Our server was lucky I left $4.00 on our $76.00 bill yesterday, but it was just easier to round it off to an even number. I guess she should be thankful the bill wasn't $79.75 or she would have known how I felt about the...
Read moreCame to restaurant in a REALLY bad emotional state, due to very recent events, came out feeling like A MILLION Bucks!! The atmosphere, flavorful & steaming hot food, solidly powerful non- watered down cocktails, an environment conducive to socialization among friends, and lucking out to being assigned the most INCREDIBLE waiter, Kien, made me grateful for the experience despite recent personal suffering. Majority of X'S I am totally jaded against the one-fits-all approach of most chain businesses. But this experience shows the crucial value of customer service practiced by a business. Usually they stifle creativity, necessary for growth in culinary advancement inspiration valued in this industry by patrons.
The Soullessly mundane corporate influence lacks the passion that is behind the soul of local non-profit that is answerable to its loyal customer base rather than the control of Wall Street stockholders who lack a personal vision helps by private owners. But the atmosphere was filled with a celebratory exuberance that made it conducive to an effective weekend unwind. The sounds of multiple groups of happy-hour patrons inspired the two of us to enjoy our own evening as well without being forced to restrain conversation and our exuberance to escape disapproval of fellow diners. The unbelievable soothing but electrifying mood in the restaurant COMPLETELY triumphed over my initial bad mood, creating a much needed diversion against all negativity. We had double Patròn shots, frozen margaritas and tropical tasting cocktail reminiscent of the classic Mai Tai and the legendary Sex on the beach. We shared the huge trio (of steak, chicken & shrimp) fajita pan for-2 among ourselves, w/ both corn and...
