đIron Goat Brewingđ
Most People might assume that the owners of this brewery are fond of goats, but in reality, this brewery gets its name from an art installation that can be found in Riverfront park in downtown Spokane. It was crafted out of garbage đ for a world's fair back in 1974. The founders wanted something that represented Spokane and its uniqueness, and the uniqueness of their beer.
What started in the backwoods has grown into a serious operation. That operation resides within a historic brick building that was once a school for mechanicsđšâđ§. The taproom itself is quite large. Using repurposed materials they built out the space with a huge stained-wood bartop, and tables; Bricksđ§±, beams, and massive wooden trusses are visible throughout the space. Their patio area is a bit more intimate but offers umbrellas for shade in the summer months.
They have a full kitchen offering bowls, burritos, pizzas, amazing sandwiches, and more! We have tried a variety of their food items and each time we were impressed. Our favorites have been the Spicy Banh Mi Pizza, BBQ Chicken & Charred Pineapple Pizza, and their Southwest Burrito Bowls. Seriously đ„
The tap list offers a large variety of beers of all types. Multiple Saisons, Stouts, and Barrel Aged porters as well.
While there we got a flight with their:
đȘBuzzsaw McThunder, Juicy IPA đąGin Barrel Ale đMinnie Ha Ha, NW Hazy IPA đStrawberry Habanero Cider đ±ââïžBrewski Blonde đ«Blackberry Apricot Sour Ale
The Buzzsaw, Minnie, and the Habanero cider were our favorites. The Strawberry Cider was spicier than expected but still tasty.
Weâve been to this spot a few times and weâve always enjoyed our time. The staff, beers, and food are always wonderful. Do yourself a favor and check them out the next time...

The food was the lure. Our thai pizza was phenomenal (coming from a New Yorker). The Bahn Mi pizza looked great too. Our caesar salad was fire (literally, they grilled it, which was unique and delicious).
The vibe was great. We knew music was going on because the website, and glad we knew to ask or else we may not have stumbled out to this great outdoor venue for live music. The band of the evening had a 90s grunge sound, and was super fun. Right before their intermission, they played a song called intermission.
When musics not going on, IGB has several boardgames (some of them are old vintage versions, which is fun when you're like "hey, i think that's the same version of 'Guess Who' I had as a child). Good feels in general here on the Saturday evening we attended.
And in case you were wondering, the beer was great too. Really enjoyed the sour, but they also had cool options like a bourbon cider.
One note - if you're walking from a more central point in Spokane (we were at Davenport hotel, but anywhere near the mall / river would experience this), you walk under some bridges that are less desirable. My girlfriend would not have felt safe walking there alone, and it was probably the most "Spokompton" area we experienced in downtown.
That said, there are plenty of e-scooters, and if you're in a group or take a car I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure in a year or so, the whole area will be better, partially thanks to Iron Goat being where they are.
For anyone who made it this fair, I hope this has convinced you to give this spot a try if it sounds right for...
Read moreWe went there for the very first time a few days ago and really enjoyed the food, beer and atmosphere.
I do not know what your establishment was like prior to Covid. But during these difficult times you could really see how much your business cares about employees as well as customers. Clear signs posted on how to place an order, tables spaced nicely, people wearing masks and cleaning. I was impressed to see a volunteer sign-up list to be contacted in the event of a break out. We have only been to two other places for dine in, since March, and yours by far is the best!
Now on to the good stuff the food and beer!!! The pizza what is your weekly special and a very tasty. Not overdone or underdone just perfect. My husband had the weekly burrito. We were shocked at how big it was! He said that he really enjoyed the flavors.
For us we enjoy the darker beer such as lagers and stouts. Those can be hard to find in Spokane. However, your establishment had a few on hand which was nice to see and try. I had the Goatmeal Stout and it's now in my top 5 of best brews! My husband had the Iron Hammer Coffee Stout and liked it, but he actually preferred the smoothness of the Goatmeal. For fun we tried some sort of strawberry beer.
Our next visit, I'll be anxious to try your pretzels and more amazing brews.
Keep up the amazing...
