So....I eat out often . Like four to five times per week or more ....and one of my pet peeves as a single person of color diner is being greeted when arriving at a restaurant with 'how can I help you?'... Or 'what can I do for you?' . It's embarrassing and frankly it seems insulting and or Racist. A greeting like that to me implies..that I could not possibly be a potential customer and that I need someone to do something for me to help me get to my destination...which couldn't possibly be here..
It's a DELIBERATE EXAMPLE OF THROWING SHADE ...AND IT ISNT CONSISTENT WITH THE Hospitality based nature of a restaurant ...I should've turned around and got back in my car and left...
Ignoring that huge harbinger of what was to come ...I was escorted to a table and asked for a water and a coke... And was informed that Pepsi products were being served only. when I asked for Mt Dew..I was informed that the Mt DEW was out.. I ordered a 4dollar unsweet tea instead. The iced tea didn't seem to hit the spot so later I asked for a Pepsi..even though I hate Pepsi..my thinking was...since both the Tea or the Pepsi were the same price and came with refills...I would only be charged for one beverage..since I was the only person .. and since there was no Mt Dew...and especially since my server never mentioned I would be charged ...again More shade from the same person who greeted me on arrival...when my server never presented me with the check...I went to the cashier and then she announced the total.,Which seemed higher than it should've been and I discovered I had been charged for switching to Pepsi. About that time ..my lackluster server appears and i ask him if he meant to charge me and why didnt he warn or inform me ? Again I felt the deliberate shade ....and mentally scolded myself for not walking out after he greeted me . .the food was just ok and didn't make up for the lousy service...I was not offered desert.. my table was not bussed nor were my beverages topped off or refilled ... I left him with the shade he was so eager to offer me...and a zero percent tip...after my 27 dollar lunch turned into a 41.00 lunch.. I can't recommend this place and I can't seem to get the bad taste of the tea and the shade...
Read moreI have been to many sushi bars in Japan and America. I live in Hawaii and go to many Sushi bars to eat and most of all relax after a trying day. Although I may not look like it but I do speak a little japanese and Korean.
I always thought when you go someplace to eat especially a Japanese bar its to be fun and relaxing and at the same time in which the sushi master would sell the bar, his food and his art of making the food to the people who come there to eat. I doesnt matter who you are when you sit down to eat because everyone is the same.
Sushi 21 is a bad example of what a sushi bar is. I felt like I was a criminal as soon as I walked in the door. No greeting. The mexican in the kitchen kept peaking around the corner at me. The Sushi boy, who was making sushi for someone else did not even greet me as I sat down or even make eye contact with me for over 30 minutes as I waited for my order.
After the waitress took my order (because the sushi boy only talked to the white guy sitting on the other side of the bar-taking his order) Another gentlemen kept walking behind me, and staring at me. Finally I asked him if he worked there. He said "Yeah in a rude condasending way.
I had ordered tamago, ebi, taco, aemaebi, and chicken udon. The Sushi boy told the waitress make sure he can pay for this this is not all you can eat in Korean Sunny (the waitress) then told me thisin english, but I already understood and acked like I didn't. After the no greeting when I entered, eye contact by the sushi boy, the sizing me up by the worker, the mexican peeking at me from the kitchen, and the thirty minute wait. Finally I stopped the worker who kept walking behind me looking at me and I told him that I think I changed my mind about sushi tonight. He quickly said O'K" you have a great night, and started grabbing my tea and water cup before I had gotten up. I told him "You good messed that up bacatai" I looked at him i Japanese. I looked at him and put a twenty dollar bill at the bar. The idiot worker just took the money like a low class prostitute.
Sushi 21 a great place to eat and...
Read moreI recently had a delivery experience with this restaurant that left me concerned about their handling of tips. While the food and service have generally been good, I encountered a significant issue during my last delivery.
I noticed that the tip left by the customer on the receipt was not reflected in my earnings. As a DoorDash driver, it's crucial to receive the full tip intended by the customer for the service provided. Unfortunately, this situation has made me question the transparency and fairness of how tips are managed here.
I believe in supporting restaurants that treat their delivery drivers fairly and ethically. Transparency in tip handling is essential, not only for drivers like myself but also for customers who want to ensure their tips go to the hardworking delivery personnel. I hope the restaurant can address and rectify these concerns to maintain its reputation as a trusted dining establishment.
9/13/2023 I am editing this rating due to the fact that I truly don't know where the mistake was made whether it was doordash or the restaurant so I'm not going to put it on the restaurant but I know that the tip was $11 and I received $3 so we're just going to leave it at that the employees there are nice and it is a great restaurant so I'm sure you'll have a great...
