Today 11 months later I went back to the same restaurant. 11 months ago I tried a different dim sum restaurant and it wasn’t as good as this one. The menu has a simple and easy to understand layout with various grouping of dim sum each with it’s price so it is easier to calculate. The food quality is quite reasonable considered the fact that Nevada is a big desert. It is not San Francisco, nor New York where there is a big Chinatown and demanding clientes. Taste is something very subjective. It is hard to have 100 persons all agree that it is good because some like it hot, some like it not. Unless there is cockroach which there isn’t or the food , especially seafood where one can tell if it is spoil or rotten or stink or burned or very salty, the taste is mid range and tend toward the salty side but I was ok with that. Also in general in Chinese restaurants , you have to ask for everything. The only time that you see a waitress is when he takes your order, bring you the food, give you the check and get the money from you. There is no question like ‘ is everything good ? Do you need anything else ? How’s everything ‘ . It is just not the training or the custom in a Chinese restaurant which can change. This restaurant had good service, so much so that the waitress came over 3 times asking to take my order while I was slowly deciding what I wanted but at no time did anyone came over to check the tea pot to make sure I had enough hot water so I guess there is room for improvement if so choose . The price of the dim sum is maybe 10 to 15 % cheaper than L A or Chicago but there is some trade off between quality and price. You pay more but the quality is better. So if I am in L V, and I want to eat dim sum, I wouldn’t hesitate coming to this restaurant again.
11 months ago :This dim sum restaurant is closest to the Strip. I walked there from my hotel, about 3 miles. It is not in the ‘chinatown’ section. The dim sum is quite extensive. The service was outstanding. Different people came by and asked me do I need anything . One came and fill my tea pot . I have been to so many Chinese restaurants and this one really stands out. Today I went to Hong Kong Garden Seafood Dim Sum Cafe. No once did anyone came by and asked me if I needed anything. I only interacted with anyone three times . First time was someone lead me to a table and asked me what kind of tea do I want. I wanted jasmine and it really didn’t taste like jasmines. The second time was when I need to pay a check and take out boxes. The last time was when I paired. Yum Cha restaurant on the other hand was more attentive. From the way they replied, I really felt I was more welcome there. The price was also a bit cheaper than Hong Kong Garden. I would definitely go back when I come back...
Read moreI came here for dinner because it was right next to my place. The food was surprising and it was of unexpected great quality. I didn't think it was going to be open for dinner because the name, "Yum Cha", suggest dim sum or a morning meal. However, the place is open till midnight and offer a dinner menu. I haven't tried their dim sum yet but I will try sometime next week. In fact, it's already my new favorite place for Chinese food in Vegas, yeah even better than Ping Pang Pong and that place at the RIO (though, still great places if you live near them).
Usually, I don't like reviewing unless I visited a place multiple times, but I was the only customer when I went and the owners came up to me, then left a pretty solid impression. She, the wife, was incredibly friendly and gave me samples of other dishes which were just as wonderful as the first. Small, privately owned restaurants like these, where the owners are present and watching over their business and customers speaks volumes. I really like the them, the owners, as people already, let alone how delicious their food was. One of the owners, the wife, also talked to me quite a bit about food taste and ingredients in her food but I can already tell she can cook from the taste of the dishes I ordered. By the way, the big eye opener was the hot and sour soup, which is offered at almost all Chinese restaurant and made so often that mediocrity is associated to the soup itself, but her's was wonderful and you can taste the white pepper already in it among other flavors without the sourness overpowering that taste. You can probably tell I wasn't expecting to be surprised as I ordered what I thought was going to be a generic hot and sour, some ginger and scallion chicken with rice, for a usual traditional Chinese meal then I was going to do my calculus homework.
The place doesn't have much advertisement as of yet so it's still an undiscovered gem that I definitely...
Read moreDisappointing. This was our first time back since COVID and we were excited to return since we enjoyed the food and service so much last time. Upon arrival, we told the host how many people were in our party and then he just turns around and walks away. Nothing else. He didn't tell us about a wait or direct us to a table. Just walks away. So we stood there for a while in confusion and then tried to seat ourselves. We were the only ones waiting and plenty of tables were available. We were immediately told by another waitress to go back to the door and wait. We tell the same host that we have a party of # and he still says nothing. He then walks to the menus, grabs a few, and then walks towards a table. Since we were the only ones waiting at the door, we just follow him to the table.
There's no push carts so we told a lady all the things we wanted to order. We ordered a few and then said we'll order more later. She responded with "Just order everything now or else it's going to take a really long time if you order later." Believe it or not, I think she remembered 8 out of the 12 things we told her we wanted. When the other things didn't come out for a long time, we asked if it was coming soon. The same lady then said "You didn't order those things."
If the incidents above weren't frustrating enough, here's another thing. They're offering cheap, flimsy paper plates for us to eat on. We didn't mind, as many restaurants do so. At a certain point, you can expect these plates to be beyond soiled with oils and liquids. We asked if we can get new plates and get our used ones taken away. The young man we asked then said "I'm not sure, I have to go ask if I can do that."
Sadly we won't be returning but we hope you all will have a better experience...
