Bottom line: Waitress was very good, but food was terrible and other staff were unprofessional. After seeing an Applebee's commercial a couple weeks ago, I told my wife I wanted to go to Applebee's, since we hadn't been in a couple years as the closest two restaurants (in York, PA and Westminster, MD) are both 35-minutes away, and are not usually in those areas. For our family of 5, the 2 for $20 deal that they've advertised for years is usually what get. Even though there were only a few people in the restaurant when we arrived around 3:40 on Wednesday, November 30th, and they were all sat comfortably at regular tables/booths, we were stuck at a makeshift seating area (called Table 15) in what is typically the waiting area prior to COVID-19 by the front door on a cold day unnecessarily. The waitress, Jennifer, was great the entire time -- quick to bring out beverages and keep them refilled, friendly, quick to take our order, attentive to our needs, etc. I would give her a 9 out of 10. She was the only good thing about our visit. She even had to deal with an unprofessional manager who yelled out from the hostess area at the front of the restaurant to her at the register at the back of the restaurant near the bathrooms to tell her to stop ringing up a couple who had some special loyalty rewards to redeem towards their meal. The 2 for $20 that is advertised is limited to a few entrées...most entrées require an additional cost (e.g., 2 for $25 or 2 for $28). The boneless chicken that my wife and I got as an appetizer barely had any honey barbecue sauce drizzled on them (instead of rolled in the sauce), and some had grissle. I upgraded from a half rack of ribs to a full rack for $3 more. Big mistake. The ribs were so dried out, and barely had any honey barbecue sauce on them, and were small in comparison to what I get at Texas Roadhouse. The ribs that one of my daughter's ordered were the same. About halfway through my wife eating her blackened shrimp alfredo, she found a hair in it. We later realized when the long-haired man who was obviously the cook came out to the bar area that it was his. My oldest daughter (who we rarely see because of college) ordered the Four Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders was not like expected and disgusting, so it got sent back for regular chicken tenders, which another daughter got. The fries were cold, and had to be replaced. My two sides -- garlic mashed potatoes and garlicky green beans -- were good and hot. No issues with beverages, which included a wild berry smoothie in addition to the sodas. During our meal, the hostess came in. When our waitress asked how she was, she proceeded to say how she was sick, but on antibiotics. She also was talking about how her significant other drinks a lot, and she was going to leave him, but he promised to stop. Between the manager, hostess, and cook, the very unprofessional staff, and the waitress was the exception. My wife and I could not believe we spent just under $100 for the terrible meal. This was my second and last visit to the York location. Avoid at all cost.

Belva was awesome!!! And the new grilled chicken and andouille sausage pasta is fantastic! We are so glad that she recommended it. And we also appreciated the great conversation we had with her when she would visit our table to bring us our drinks, food, etc. She was so friendly, outgoing, and inviting. The restaurant looks great since the renovation, too, and I love the artwork on the walls that includes little details about this area. It makes this restaurant feel more personal, even though it's part of a larger chain. Before we left, we were visited by the manager, Seth, asking how everything went tonight. I really appreciate when managers visit tables to ensure that their customers had a good experience. And it helps that we had a great experience, all around. We'll definitely be back and we'll probably ask for Belva! 😊

Disappointed is an understatement. The wonton tacos are my absolute favorite. They were out. Our waiter took our drink orders and didn't tell us they were out. He told the next table over instead. We waited 10 minutes for our margaritas and had to ask several times for water. Our appetizer came out cold after waiting 45 minutes for it. Instead of making new they put it in the oven for 5 minutes and brought soggy nachos back out and with a dirty plate at that. 25 more minutes we had to ask to see a manger because our food still had not come out. When the manager brought it out it, we had no knives and my husband had no drink. My salmon was overcooked and with the wrong side (which i saw the waiter write down). I am so terribly disappointed. It will be a very long time if ever until we go back.

Hello its your local google guide, It is a truely rare occasion when i get the opportunity to rereview an establishment that I score poorly on a review. When I previously came the establishment it seemed dead and in poor standing as far as all aspects. Initially I was reached out to by managemrnt before the shut down and reopening. I declined a retry at the time due to how poor my experience was and my belief at the time that it would take a complete change to revive the place. As far as im concerned this is now a completely different establishment from previously visited so i was now willing to retry. I arrived promptly after opening. I was immediately greeted as the personel held the door open for my party and I. I was then immediately welcomed and offered my choice of a booth, table or the bar. We choose booth 17 and were seated by management. We were placed under the server Josh's care. Josh is a kind and welcoming server who valued all of our time and feedback. He was attentive and caring and made sure we were served to the highest ability. It was refreshing to have the quality of service most can say they dont often recieve anymore. My party sampled a full varieties of meals and drinks. The appetizer today was mozzarella stick. They were fresh and delivered quickly. We tried the fiesta lime chicken and rice, loaded mash potatoes and my kid tried a macaroni and fries. Each piece of food was carefully made to perfection. They were correctly served with care and good presentation. While sitting it felt like an open and comfortable vibe with plenty of servers and management caring for each customer. Nothing but smiles and enjoyment were seen in the resturaunt today. We also met and spoke to Miguel a manager at this location. Miguel is professional and endearing in his effort to maintain a high level of customer satifaction. I am beyond satisfied with the reopening results and i know this applebees will have many years of success to come. Thank you for such a positive family friendly experience. We look forward to dining again soon.

With the highest regards,

Timothy...

My wife and I stopped in for dinner while staying in York before meeting friends at the casino. From the moment we walked in, there was an employee holding the door for entering guests. It was hot outside and much cooler inside but the employee insisted on holding the door while suggested I got the door and it’s too hot to be standing out there. He seemed pleased to be doing his job. The host sat us quickly. A server (Enrique) came over to us to apologize that he was not going to be our server as he was just assigned a large table and told us Keaun would be our server. When Keaun stopped by to introduce himself I joked that we will settle as we were hoping for Enrique. After we ordered I looked around and observed other employees going above and beyond. Cleaning tables chairs floors, everything showing pride in their work. Behind me a woman spilled her drink and May have been a bit embarrassed. The staff were so very kind to her even joking with her at the end saying that’s why they call it dinner and a show. Our food came quickly and Keaun brought us back up drinks without us asking. Every aspect of this experience brought me joy to see this many young adults taking pride in their work. I may have scared Keaun when I asked if I could see a manager as he did every part of his job to perfection. The manager (Bradley) came over and I told him of the great work and he asked if I would be kind enough to leave a review. I’m happy to leave this for the great...
