Mongolian grill cook: 0/5. Burns food BADLY. too much oil. Wait staff: 2/5 weird vibes, didn't clean tables well Clean staff: -3/5 Dirty dirty dirty plates.
I went there yesterday for lunch. The prices were super fair, $13 for buffet and $3 for a drink.
The mongolian grill part took forever though, I had to ring the bell like 6 times before the guy came out finally and cooked the food. Like I didn't just smack it 6 times, I pressed it, waited a few mins, then pressed it again... and again..
Then when he finally made the food it was overcooked to hell and back, and COVERED in oil. That man dumped so much oil on it, it felt like I was eating a noodle soup. Eww. It seemed like the chef was annoyed he got put on grill duty, and wanted to make sure he could finish in 15 seconds with max heat then go back to sitting in the back room.
The drink refills were weird, they asked me what I wanted to drink.. instead of just giving me a cup? I asked if refills were free, she hesitated and said yes. Then when I went to go refill it, I got mean-mugged and almost stopped by two servers. What's up with that? Did they not want customers refilling their own drinks?? It's a buffet man...
The plates still said China sun on them, that's just funny, nothing wrong with that. BUT I had to grab and set aside 3 plates until I got to a clean looking one. There was crud stuck to them like big chunks of food. Are they not washing these between uses? The silverware looked fine though.
Overall it seems like the cook and clean staff aren't doing so well, and the wait staff is fine but they need to figure out their drink situation and put up a sign if they want to do...
Read moreHoly ** where to begin. China sun was already on the down turn. They obviously "re-opened" under the Lucky name and even redid some of the furniture in their dining area. They advertise that they close at 10pm. We went in for a late dinner at 9pm excited to see how it was as the the 6 reviews it has since the "Re opening" are all great. This was the single worst dining experience I have ever had. They turn their food warmers off at 8:30 I'm guessing? Everything in hot food section was cold. Pot stickers - cold. Wontons - cold. We tried the Mongolian grill and they no longer had any of the additional sauce choices to put on your food either. The "Cook" Burned our Mongolian grill plates and it had literally no flavor. It was so bad we politely complained. I mentioned how the food was cold and the cashier literally said "oh we close in an hour" as if that was an excuse. Don't advertise you're open till 10 if you don't keep your food warm. we were given a 10% discount....The cashier even said "this place is really bad..." I don't know what's going on here but save your money, and potentially your health and do not go here. The cashier was a sweet older lady it wasn't her fault she offered to let us get an ice cream cone on our way out and the ice cream had no sugar in it! It was completely unsweetened. Can't...
Read moreI've eaten at Lucky Buffet (previously China Sun) for over 15 years. The menu is the same as it was with China Sun and is diverse and very good. If you go in for the buffet you have a wide selection of foods from various asian selections including from a very good custard mussel to broccoli beef. You also have a good sampling of sushi items and a well stocked fresh salad bar. To top this all off is the Mongolian Grill which is well prepared. If you are a senior you get a discount (you need to say you are a senior at checkout). I think this place is on of the best kept secrets in Eugene/Springfield. Highly...
