I'm a big fan of sandwiches and this place definitely delivers (pun intended). Really good variety of sandwiches to choose from - as well as other items, like pizza and salads. Wayyyyy better than your local subway. They are always prompt with making your food when you order. #pickpicklemans
UPDATE: I recently placed an order online for carry out, long story short, when I arrived, order got confused with another and had to wait an additional 10 more mins that originally estimated. No big deal, I'm a very patient person, and I worked in the food industry for 4 years - I know how busy and crazy a lunch shift can get. However the downside was I got charged twice for the order - once online and the second time in store. I chose not to say anything when I paid in store because of how busy everyone was. Instead, I waited to make sure that I did get charged twice, then sent an email explaining my experience. Within 15 mins, I had received a personalized email from the store locations manager himself apologizing as well as remembering how crazy that day was with the lunch rush. He called me later that day and refunded the incorrect charge back onto my card as well as gave me a code for a discount on my next order in their store. I loved how he handled the situation in a kind and professional manner. It's not about the discount food, it's about the time that managers take to correct a wrong situation. I will continue to use and suggest this location. ...
Read moreI have eaten here on duty and pickleman's showed me love, but this particular incident I was not in uniform, hair a mess, leaving Cardinal Glennon, (all my children had the flu) baby in my arms, I'm a "mom mess" ...well I order my food, they are none the wiser that's it's me out of uniform and they still showed me love, I order my random order and leave to go home. I make it home, I'm stressed, tired and dispensing medicine. I check my bag and I'm missing a sandwich, I could feel a storm brewing in my mind. (Calling pickleman's) "Hello, thanks for ca-" "Manager." "Excuse me?" "Place your manager on the phone, please" "sure! Please hold" (finger tapping while holding my fever stricken baby) I tell the manager my whole spill, even things he didn't care to hear, you know, about my entire day leading up to my order. He is just as upset as I am about me missing a sandwich, he even remember me and my cute baby. There was no argument, he gps my address and told me I was just over the border but he would still have a driver drop off my sandwich, I could even hear the young lady from earlier in the background like "oh my gosh that's totally on us!" I haven't heard or seen this much accountability in so long. It's so hard to come by. We hang up the phone, the driver arrives shortly after and I tip him accordingly. I open the bag and to my surprise I find a cookie along with my sandwich, I just...
Read moreIf I lived in St. Louis, I'd eat lunch here once a week. The logo reads, "Gourmet cafe." True words, that! Sandwiches. Salads. Pizza. They say you can't eat on a beer budget and get champagne food. Well, you can at Pickleman's. Everything is top notch...at student prices. My turkey bacon club was stuffed with fresh lettuce and tomato atop crunchy, crunchy bacon slabs. I love the sandwich bread. It's he-man thick. I needed two hands to hold it! I am a salad girl. I inhaled the Avo-Cobb salad. It was studded with hard-boiled eggs, tomatoes, crumbled bacon and sliced avocados. Even the croutons were crunchy. All the pizzas are thin crust. The sausage pizza had classic Italian sausage pieces generously sprinkled throughout. Another fav was the walnut cran salad. The blue cheese had just the right bite. The cranberries added chewy and sweet while the walnuts added crunchy and salty. A match made in heaven. St. Louis University is directly across the street. The decor reflects this affiliation. Nothing pretentious here. Everything is served in disposable plastic. The dining room is large and airy. The wooden tables are welcoming and friendly; nothing fancy here. The place reminds me of the delis I hung out in the 1960s in another Midwest city, Chicago. Pickleman's definitely has that mid-century vibe. When are they going to open one in...
