Murphy's Townhouse Cafe — Restaurant in Stamford

I know I am super late writing this review but, after reading a customer's comment on how she was denied service due to a handicapped family member, I WAS NOT AT ALL SURPRISED and couldn't resist sharing my unfortunate experience at Murphy's. I went to this establishment on Cinco De Mayo, I'd say around 11:15pm (I work in emergency services so I got out late) to grab a quick drink with a co-worker. Upon asking for a Long Island Iced Tea I was yelled at by the owner for making such a request and was told "how dare I make such a request and during last call" (btw I didn't know it was last call, as I have never been here before). He then instructed me to get out of his bar and added that, 'it was his bar and that he could serve or not serve whomever he wants.' He then proceeded to tell me to "go down the street for a drink." REALLY??? This is how you treat your customers and potential customer's? I was so shocked that a bar owner (The owner of a rundown gross one at that) would deny service to a customer for simply ordering a Long Island Iced Tea. Oh well, I guess there truly is a first time for everything. Needless to say, this was my first and last time at this place. I am shocked to see the place has a greater than 4 star rating. but then again, it is either staff writing the reviews for a review boost or, 21 year-old customers who wrote the reviews in exchange for...

I first went to Murphy's (based on Google reviews), right before the pandemic caused everything to shut down in March. Since then I've been back 3 more times (including today), and its always been a great experience!

It has a nice outdoor seating area, a nice amount of parking, and it is definitely a local neighborhood hangout spot (or so it seems) - and I'm not from Stamford, or from CT, for that matter.

The staff is friendly and chill, and has always treated me and my friend (who I've been there with) very nicely and with a welcoming smile. Decent beer and drink selection, and plenty of choices on their food menu. I've tried their Nachos with Chili, Chili Fries, their various burgers, and their Pastrami (and the Reuben with Turkey) - and all have been great!

Prices are great, as are the portion sizes. If you're in Stamford and are looking for a chill and relaxed place for a beer or drink or bite - or all of the above - I would...

Do yourself a favor and just go there.... if you haven't been, you're seriously missing out. Get the wings- they are LITERALLY. THE. BEST. WINGS. in Stamford or quite possibly EVER. If you go here and don't like their wings... then you actually just don't like wings and should stop eating them. Burgers are amazing, onion rings are fire, fries are great. Defiantly a locals spot. Outdoor seating available. TVs for games. I'm not sure how they don't have at-least a 5 star for reviews because this place slaps... Actually I do, it's most likely due to the service. Some of the bartenders seem to consistently have an attitude and act like 1 of 2 things:

1. they hate their job or
