Wedge Inn — Restaurant in Stamford

Current, UPDATE: Sorry, but this place has disappointed. My husband and I are not coming back after this last incident. We are Stamford natives, our families have lived here over 40yrs so we know Wedge Inn and we decided to go back as adults more frequently to support small businesses. Today, our loyalty was worthless to Wedge INN. I ordered a TO GO sandwich for my husband just one: Ryder’s favorite. Simple, ordered at 1pm. While I waited I noticed Grub Hub orders were the priority everyone else that ordered in person waits maximum 30mins for theirs. During the hustle and bustle of the lunch rush, the blonde woman with white shorts is supposed to handle pickups and TO GO orders. After 30mins I realized something is wrong, the last time they shouted “Ryder’s Favorite” some woman by the register swiped the sandwich, I thought the blonde haired woman checks the tickets before handing off the orders, evidently not. Grub Hub order are only handled with care and triple checked. My fears are confirmed when I ask where is my sandwich and she said that order went out, and I tell her someone stole it then because I don’t have and I saw whom it might’ve been. She puts it back in the order queue. 10 mins pass no sandwich. I ask if it will be done in the next 5 mins and she checks with the food handlers/cooks and they must’ve given her a ‘fat chance’ response so I ask for my money back. That whole time the blonde woman did not apologize, did not empathize, and I almost felt like I was in the wrong for wanting my money back. It is not the customer’s responsibility or job to make sure no one steals their order and it is the employee’s responsibility to get it right. The two younger brunette ladies were helpful and attentive and one of them seemed to care and I appreciated that. What a shame. Get your act together and stop prioritizing online orders or get efficient order pick up personnel or else you’ll have way more theft and less customers. Also update your online menu. Myself included along with a stranger after me asked for the Veal parmigiana and we were told it is no longer made there, but online it‘s listed.

This place is terrible. They used to be good years ago but now just a rip off. I have been ordering the cheese steak with chili for over 30 years. And recently they got really greedy and skimpy on the meat. I purchased the sandwich and when I tried eating it noticed almost no steak (SERIOUSLY). I called to complain and instead of fixing it or replacing it the "manager "tells me that the meat is weighed out and he would do nothing about it. Up until recently they actually put meat in your sandwich but I guess they thought that was a bad idea and ripping off long time customers was a better idea. This is not a one time occurrence that's why I'm writing this review. My coworkers noticed the same. So just letting you know your greed has cost you some long time patrons and our entire offices' business. FYI my coworkers love to talk so keep that in mind next time a customers has a concern or complaint. There really is no excuse for this other than pure simple greed. Maybe learn to respect...

Good food. Cheap prices. But no restroom. Yes, I get it’s a dine and dash concept. “No you can’t wash your hands take your food and go” vibe/ mentality. I stopped in the other day for the breakfast special. I moved to NY so I don’t frequent here as often, but used to come fairhfully all the time at least 2x a week. I got off the highway coming from the BX and had to pee so bad. They wouldn’t let me. The girl told me flat out no. I had to pee outside my azz exposed and all, in the blistering cold, because I had to go that bad and the variety wouldn’t let me use their bathroom. I’ve worked in a pizzeria with no bathroom and sometimes we made acceptions. I’m a female and it was cold and nowhere else to go.
