Duck Donuts — Restaurant in State College

I went to pick up donuts for my mom that she ordered online. We drove almost 2 hours. She ordered a fall assortment. It was storming bad outside, so we wanted to get the donuts and go home before it got worse. When we got there, there were multiple employees standing around doing nothing, they said they could not make our donuts yet. Another customer then came in and ordered and they instantly made their order. They made us sit and wait half an hour, while most the employees stood around doing nothing. I wish I could have cancelled my order I made online and just ordered in store so maybe they would have made them as fast as they made the other customers. We have always loved Duck Donuts and visited the original in Duck, NC many times over the years. No issue with the food at this location but the service is challenging. We were meeting a group at 8am to tailgate before the game and placed an order online the night before for a 7:45 pick up. We arrive at 7:40…not even started and we are not alone. Many people arrive and have the same situation. It’s now 8:54 and my wife is finally coming out with our order. The limited staff was working as best they could and I work in the service industry and completely understand staffing issues. Ownership needs to reduce services or disable online ordering if the needs of the customer can’t be met. An order being over an hour late when I have people waiting will definitely make me look elsewhere for...

The donuts are amazing, but thats not the best part. The employees, especially Dylan, are incredibly hospitable. This guy, Dylan made me feel so welcome and cared for and I respect the heck out of him. The employee that handed me the sweet dough circles didn't even ask me if they looked good, but my boy Dylan went out of his way to ask me mid-snack if I was enjoying my sugar bagels. Man, this Dylan guy took time out of his day to personally hand people their orders at their tables, and he made sure that we knew about the free samples and coupons. Dylan is the real OG.
