Dining at Heinez was a truly joyful and memorable experience. From the moment you walk in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere makes you feel like you’re part of the family. The restaurant has a cozy, alpine-style charm that perfectly complements the fondue experience. It feels like a little taste of Switzerland right in the heart of Vermont.
The food was excellent. The cheese fondue was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, especially delicious when paired with the bread for dipping. For the main course, I recommend the shrimp and steak combo, which was tender and paired beautifully with the house dipping sauces. The chocolate fondue for dessert was the perfect ending: velvety chocolate with fresh fruit, marshmallows, and other sweet bites to dip, fun, interactive, and indulgent.
What stood out just as much as the food was the service. This is a family-owned business, and you can feel the care and pride they put into everything. The staff was kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to share the fondue tradition with their guests.
Overall, I would recommend Heinez to anyone visiting Stowe, VT. It’s more than just a meal, it’s an experience that combines great food and a touch of European tradition. Whether you’re with family, friends, or on a special night out, this is the kind of place that makes your trip...
Read moreThis is not the first one I've been to, I've eaten a lot of fondue, because in the region where I was born in Brazil, we are used to having this type of food. I want to say that if it were for the comments here, I would never go to this place, but I always have a saying, if you don't taste it, you can't speak. I see that many here commented on the abusive value, it really isn't cheap, but they make the value very clear on their website, so it's not surprising to anyone the price of the place, and a tip if you don't think it's affordable, only you don't go. Many say that cheese is not cheese, so I would like to know what cheese is: cheddar? I ate cheese!!! And yes, the cheese was Swiss, like all Swiss cheese in the USA. The chocolate was, chocolate but it is more consistent because you put milk cream so that you can have the right consistency to be caught with the fruits etc.
I'm giving 4 stars because it wasn't my best Fondue but it wasn't what many here are talking about, being so horrible.
I was treated very well, and the food was delicious. Of course, in my opinion, the TIP being included is not cool, but it was also on the website that it was.
PS: I even read here people complaining about the owner's car, people he works, start minding your own business! This is not a reason to add 1 star...
Read moreI loved the Swiss decor of the place , so typical and so cozy. the pictures of the Swiss mountains , the decorations and the warmth of the owners who are so friendly and super kind. the owner was there when we sat down and he personally came and greet all the customers upon their arrival and when he left and we had a chat which was very enjoyable. The waitress so kind and friendly it was a pleasure meeting her. I loved their food . My husband and I had their fondue and a raclette and we ate everything . The dressing on the salad was also amazing. I agree with some of the reviews that the prices are high but to be fair the menu with the prices is exposed outside of the restaurant, so people can decide if they want to pay or not for it. I was definitely willing to try it out and I don’t regret it at all because I don’t find these typical food from Europe very easily around America and I found the idea of this restaurant very brilliant to be honest. I was too full to try the chocolate fondue unfortunately but it must have been amazing too. The only reason why I don’t give 5 stars is that the bill which was given to us was handwritten - which was weird to me - and the tip was already calculated at 18% without letting me decide how much I should give as a tip, I didn’t like...
