Compton's Pancake House — Restaurant in Stroudsburg

My friends and I were in the area for a girls trip weekend. We tried to go on Saturday, but we went late and the wait was long. We decided to come the next day. On Sunday we came, earlier than the day before. It was still pretty crowded but the wait time was not the bad.

Sunday, our experience was good. Our waitress was Ms Jackie and she was very attentive, despite having multiple tables. The food was soo good. We had a variety from French Toast, to Steak and Eggs, to Omelets and Waffles. Everyone was very satisfied.

We were SOOO satisfied, we wanted to eat there again before we left. And this is why this place did not get 5 stars.

We returned on Monday before departing the area to go home. The restaurant was surely not as busy as the weekend. Initially, we were seated at a table to small for the group size. Once seated, we were not provided with menus. It could be worse right....

Our waitress for this day never introduced herself, tossed silverware our way and said she would be back. We then asked another young lady if we could be moved to a larger table that had just become available to accommodate our party comfortably. She was pleasant, but stated she was not a waitress and ours would be over. The waitress walked passed us over 10times and didn't even bother to ask if we wanted drinks. Another family was seated (at our original table) and she greeted them and provided silverware and took drink orders. At this point, we had been waiting over 15minutes just to get a beverage order in. One lady ib the party, ask if she could at least get a coffee as we waited and the waitress said she was too busy to grab it on the way. One in the party got up and left because of how many times she walked by and stated she was no longer hungry. Another lady in our party stopped the waitress to ask what was the hold up just to order drinks. This nameless waitress stated to my friend, "It's either get yelled at by my manager for not getting this food out or make you all wait and you be mad"

Now, once again, the restaurant was not super busy like Saturday or Sunday. Even if it was, I just don't think the waitress should have said that. A simple "please bare with me, I'm a little busy" would have sufficed. And I forgot to mention we left and went to another local diner and a couple that we seen at Compton was there eating as well. they said they waited to be seated for an extended amount of time.

Needless to say, the entire party of 5 left without placing a drink order after 40 minutes.

I went in today with intentions of enjoying my breakfast with my husband, but as soon as I walked in I realized that would not be the case today. Compton's staff are always quick, courteous, sweet and just pleasant to speak with. Except for today, today he had his wife running the show, I have to admit that I left there in tears, I left my husband standing at the register alone and had to leave. She was unbearable, abusive, demeaning, disrespectful and just straight up an animal to every single girl on the staff. She went as far as to call the girls stupid, incompetent, and said they were incapable of following basic directions. I couldn't stand her abuse, she announced her disrespectful remarks across the diner in front of customers and I just could not bare it. Finally we get up to pay and leave and she verbally destroys the lady at the register because we had a $100 bill and she didn't have enough change, yelling at the top of her lungs that Compton can never be found when needed and that the poor lady needed to use her brain and have common sense. Then she proceeded to snatch the money out of her hand and told her YOU BETTER PRAY I HAVE CHANGE, that's when I told the poor lady that his wife was an animal and the Antichrist and I was so sorry that the staff was being abused in this manner and I just walked out. I was emotionally upset and even became physically sick. I'am so saddened by what I saw and heard that I'm contemplating contacting the labor department and the better business bureau. During a recent visit to the Delaware Water Gap, I had the pleasure of stopping by Compton’s Pancake House, a charming and cozy spot that quickly became a highlight of the trip. Located just a short distance from the scenic trails, Compton’s Pancake House is the perfect stop for anyone looking to fuel up with a hearty breakfast or brunch.

As the name suggests, pancakes are the star of the show at Compton’s, and they certainly didn’t disappoint. My group ordered a variety of different pancakes, ranging from classic buttermilk to more indulgent options like chocolate chip and blueberry. Each stack was fluffy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The pancakes were generously portioned, yet light enough that we could still sample a few different kinds without feeling overwhelmed.

One of the standout features of our visit was the unlimited coffee, which was a nice touch. The coffee was rich and robust, and the servers were quick to keep our mugs full, ensuring we had all the caffeine we needed to power through our day.

The service at Compton’s Pancake House was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was quick and efficient, and our food arrived piping hot.
