It's not like it used to be, the food is still good, made by Ukrainian refugees (like me!) Wonderful ladies. It's the staff on the cash registers that are very snobby. I moved here 30+ years ago, and they act like they can't understand me when I speak fluent Russian, and when they barely speak English theyre gonna judge me and be rude. What other store do you go in where the cashier can't even look at you because they are on their phone. Skip the produce, it's over priced, publix is a block over. They don't clean the tables outside, and lots of birds come to eat people's left overs. They have lots of selection, so if you go in not expecting to go for the experience and you're in and out you should be fine. The ladies that make the food are so nice even though they literally just came from a horrible war zone and these kids at the front on the registers are pretty rude for no reason. We did meet a very nice man from the marina that was just having a sit at the table next to us, I offered him a plate of food i had bought for my son, that he didn't even touch and he declined. He is a vet and had his leg shot through in the war, and he showed my son and we told my son it was because he didn't use his car seat when he was little. Now my son doesn't fight me when I put him in his car seat. That guy deserves all the stars! And the Ukrainian cooks!

A restaurant with outdoor seating including for people who buy ready to eat buffet at their delicatessen next door. The buffet was rich in choices but poor in written names and nonexistent in descriptions. But while there’s room for improvement the truth is that it demonstrates that this is one of those precious places that is authentic with a capital “A”! So we ate at the restaurant outside with our 2 dogs and we loved it. I had the beef stroganoff with mashed potatoes and it was just like my mother used to make. We also had the pelmini (small Russian dumplings) which they called “Siberian style”. The delicatessen/ grocery store was AMAZING. I wanted to buy one of each dessert and candy but my car was too small to fit them all in, lol. Cheeses and butters from everywhere, salamis dark breads, oh my. I’m getting hungry again and I just finished. Another great restaurant and bakery (Armenian) called Ararat is right next door. Listen to the conversations in this strip center and you’ll forget you’re in the States, I love it.

⭐️ Come for the Borscht, Stay for the Existential Dread. Walking into Matryoshka Deli felt less like visiting a store and more like accidentally crashing someone’s Soviet-era family dinner… uninvited. The shelves? Stocked with mystery items heavy enough to double as gym equipment. Want to casually browse? Better bring a forklift and a strong back. Finding what you need is like playing a very emotionally distant game of hide-and-seek. The staff? Let’s just say customer service wasn’t on the menu. No smile, no greeting — just a vibe like I interrupted someone’s private moment. I swear I caught a look that said, “Why are you in my living room?” Some food was decent (hence, the generous one star), but prices were so high I briefly wondered if I was paying for the recipe’s emotional backstory. If you enjoy overpriced dumplings, cryptic stares, and shelves that challenge your upper body strength, this place is for you. If not — maybe keep walking… quietly, so you don’t offend anyone on the way out.

Highly delicious and original selection of foods from Eastern Europe and a bit from Western Europe and the USA. The store has upgraded itself a lot in the past few years. The shopping experience is smooth, there is an eatery on the side of the store with occasional live music in the evenings, serving mostly cool Slavic influence foods. Their twin store Kalinka is on the same plaza and offers a smaller cozy alternative, while Matreshka is brighter and more spacious , with a greater variety, and with other restaurants and stores on the same plaza (Latin, Asian, Jewish, Georgian...) one can find a spot for every mood. Focused on Russian goods in the past, Matroshka currently features additional prominent "collections" from Ukraine, Poland, Belarus, Turkiye, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Luthvinia, Estonia, Finland, and even some preserves and candies from Germany. The culture is focused on the countries of the post-Soviet European stage. Most speak Russian, but English speaking customers are understood and accommodated with no problem. The same in their "cousin" store European Delights (about 5 min drive away from them on another plaza), that strikes the balance in size between a larger store Matroshka and a more cozy store Kalinka, and additionally offers an opulent selection of authentic caviars: we saw both English and Spanish customers coming for it, and somebody would always step out for an easy...

My experience walking through Matryoshka’s grocery store to begin with, was quite an adventure. A very pleasant one in fact. Being born in the USA and never traveling outside of the country I was very interested, curious about Russian cuisine, beverages, and in home fine dining due to the pandemic. Matryoshka had it all! From the finest caviar to most refreshing ice cold Russian beer(served in a tall, frozen glass). The buffet spread was absolutely impeccable with so many delicious options to choose from!!! If you came here hungry I guarantee you will leave here full and 100% satisfied. In addition, they have a wonderfully convenient outside seating area so I was able to purchase my food/beverages and eat it there comfortably outside as well. Lastly, the atmosphere was absolutely inviting. Any question, comment, or concern I had about anything I needed to get or wanted to know was dealt with in the upmost professionally respected way from the incredible staff at this location. The employees there are so kind and so helpful, I was able to get everything I wanted and learned so much through the process, meeting so many wonderful individuals. I give Matryoshka of sunny isles beach 2 thumbs up 👍👍 I will be coming here for the rest of my days and would highly recommend this place to ALL family, friends and others that are interested in a new and outstanding ...

Was visiting from out of town, first time since they moved to their new location a few years ago. I bought a few things, but one of the items, a $2 pack of coffee flavored wafers, something I know I bought there years prior, and was something I was really looking forward to, wouldn’t be sold to me. This was the first time in my entire life a store has REFUSED TO SELL to me. The item wouldn’t scan, you told me not to go look at the price on the shelf, you refused to go look, you refused to scan a similar item, you refused to sell it to me for any price you wanted, two people working just flat out couldn’t figure out how to sell these wafers to me. It took what felt like an eternity a massive line built up, they had to open a second register, and at the end of it all, I left with the items that scanned fine, and wildly unhappy I couldn’t get the treat I was excited to find. Any other grocery store would’ve sent someone to go fetch the price and key it in manually, ask me if I’m ok with a random amount, or just flat out give the customer the product because the store has an issue. No. Instead you refuse to sell a product. A product I specifically announced, “I want this, I’ll pay whatever.” Figure out what you stock, figure out how to sell it, figure out how to take money for those products, figure out your customer service. Absolutely deplorable the way it...
