First off, there is not a lot of parking in their parking lot. They have valet, which is kind of a rip off in a shopping plaza, they valet your car so you can pay them to park your car 2 feet away in a parking spot? Come on... Finally got lucky and found a spot up front.
I came here for lunch at about 12:00p. Came in and sat at the bar, looked through the menu which was around 20 pages long. 1/2 of the menu was advertisements for local business', 1/4 of it was their juices (which seems to be the main focus here). And the other 1/4 was food. I was in the mood for a somewhat healthy lunch, so I felt I was in the right place. I ordered an ice water and looked over the menu. They brought me a cup with water in it, no ice....? Who does that? I looked around at other people's water and they didn't have ice either. Never heard of being stingy on ice....
I ordered a Turkey Sandwich, along with a bagel with cream cheese. The waitress was not writing down my order when I gave it to her, but I trusted she had a good memory. She came back twice to ask me questions about my order...Whatever...
She brings out the "bagel" which did not resemble a bagel in any way. It was a large round piece of dough (about 10" in diameter) covered in sesame seeds. It looked like an oversized pretzel with no middle. Not what you think of when you order a bagel. It was not very good, and the little bit of cream cheese they gave me was frozen solid, so it was just about impossible to apply to the round bread circle they brought me. They brought out my sandwich which was so hot, I had to wait a few minutes to eat it. Turkey, with cheese and mayonnaise in a pita. Not that great. The sandwich started falling apart the moment I bit into it, so I just used a knife and fork. I had heard great things about this restaurant which is why I decided to try it. But it did not live up to the hype in any way....Maybe it was what I ordered?
I get the bill and they charged extra for the frozen block of cream cheese that they gave me...I asked the waitress: "You charge extra for cream cheese?" She said: "Yes, we charge. We charge for everything". Maybe I am delusional, but when you order a bagel, it generally comes with cream cheese. People don't like being nickel and dime'd for every little thing in a restaurant. I thought I ordered a light lunch (turkey sandwich, and a bagel) and the bill was $16. A little pricey for what I received...
I did not have a great lunch here and was very happy to pay my bill and leave. I will definitely not be back. Maybe if I am in the mood for a smoothie, or juice. Which seems to be what they are...
Read moreI used to love this place even though the service is SLOW .. but the food quality and quantity has changed for the worse. Then recently I noticed them making one of my "fresh squeezed juices"... they were pouring apple juice like a MOTTS from a bottle into my cup! I actually had to ask them to remake it, using fresh apples ... fast forward months later I'm there with my family and order a fresh squeezed OJ for my son, the second it is set down on table I can see its color, its milky looking like tropicana which I wouldn't drink if it was the last drink on earth, I proceeded to taste and notice it is absurdly cold like it has been sitting in the fridge and tastes awful, not even close to how a delicious fresh squeezed orange juice should taste... I go to the counter and ask for the gentlemen to make me a fresh squeezed OJ from the oranges sitting there... He refused! He would do no such thing and told me to talk to the owner. Claiming the juice was fresh squeezed from earlier .... I'm sorry but anyone who knows about fresh squeezed juice knows it should be consumed within 15 minutes of the juicing process not juiced then poured into some aftermarket milk carton and put in a fridge to sit until some unaware customer orders the next cup. They have officially lost me as a customer I can go to Treesome for REAL FRESH squeezed juices and faster friendlier service. To top off this last visit my waitress brought our food (some was missing so we said forget it) but she had never brought me UTENSILS or WATERS to the table .. she also did not ask if we needed anything for my child, my fork took 15 minutes to arrive obviously then my food was cold. We had enough it was another terribly experience here and we asked for the check while I finally got to start eating my food... She brings the check 5 minutes later, at this point I am trying to finish my cold eggs, my plate more than half full, I am MID CHEW, fork in hand with toddler on my lap and she grabs my dish to remove it from in front of me... are you kidding me ?
To sum it up do not expect common sense, good customer service, OR a truly fresh squeezed juice here... It's taken me 3 years to get fed up with this place but its been a bad experience enough times for me to actually write this review. Meals out should be enjoyable .. Also parking is a nightmare most of the time and Isaac the owners attitude sucks - if you are unhappy with anything he will most likely not care EVEN if he...
Read moreWe had breakfast here this morning. We all had scrambled eggs (two Gina specials and one bagel with scrambled eggs and cheese). The service was appalling. We were seated and given menus quickly and the waitress told me she'd be with us shortly. Once we had decided what we wanted and closed our menus, we waited AGES to have our order taken - time during which many waiters passed us and ignored our attempts to make eye contact. We had to ask twice to be served before the original waitress came over and apologised, saying she thought our order had already been taken by her colleague (even though we still had menus in front of us...) The menu is mainly made up of breakfast "combos" which you can edit but they come with drinks (a tiny glass of orange juice and American coffee) which you pay for whether you want them or not. There seems to be an option to make up your own breakfast from the "sides" section but the waitress discouraged us from doing this and it doesn't really work anyway because a portion of nova would cost nearly $20 alone. This means there isn't a lot of flexibility. Once we had ordered, we waited ages again for our food to arrive and a couple behind us who arrived after us were served first (also cooked breakfast). There are both serving staff and people who clear plates - the plate clearing begins before everyone at the table has finished eating. It took a lot of effort on our parts to chase the waitress for the bill and when it finally came, an automatic gratuity of 20% had been applied. It took ages for her to come back to take our payment. In the end, due to delays at every single stage of the meal, we asked for this service charge to be removed. The waitress checked with the manager who accepted this but made no attempt to speak to us or ascertain our reasons for feeling unsatisfied by the service. The food was ok but the eggs tasted like they'd probably been served from a pre-cooked batch - which explains the emphasis on the combo meals instead of making...
