What does it tell you when a place only has five star reviews? Is it legit?
When a place only has five-star reviews, it's definitely a red flag. While it's possible that the place is truly exceptional and has never had any negative experiences, it's more likely that the reviews are not genuine. Here are some reasons why: Fake reviews: Businesses may incentivize customers to leave positive reviews or even create fake accounts to boost their ratings. Lack of diversity: If all the reviews are positive, it suggests that the business may be suppressing negative feedback or only asking satisfied customers for reviews. Selection bias: People are more likely to leave reviews when they have a strong opinion, either positive or negative. If only positive reviews are visible, it could mean that the business is discouraging negative feedback. To determine whether a place with only five-star reviews is legit, consider the following: Check other review platforms: Look for reviews on other websites like Yelp, TripAdvisor, or Google Maps. If the reviews are consistent across multiple platforms, it's more likely to be genuine. Read the reviews carefully: Pay attention to the details of the reviews. Are they specific and detailed, or are they generic and overly positive? Look for red flags: Be wary of reviews that are overly short, use repetitive language, or praise the business in an unrealistic way. Do your own research: Look for information about the business online, such as news articles, blog posts, or social media posts. Trust your gut: If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Ultimately, it's important to use your own judgment when evaluating online reviews. Don't rely solely on the star rating, but consider all the available information before...
Read moreWhere do I start!?! We came here for Valentines Day and we were extremely disappointed. Their excuse was that a cook was burned and the kitchen collapsed. While we were there, almost 4 hours, more than 6 couples got up and left. Another couple warned us as they waited for more than 2 hours and “good luck”. Because it was Valentines we opted to stay since we weren’t sure what was available for a party of 6. Seems there were only 2 waiters and one was pulling more the weight but he was probably also working in the kitchen at this point.
Food: was really good and tasteful… thank goodness! Soup, shrimp, filet mignon w/mash potatoes and asparagus.
Service: while the waiter was nice and doing his best, it took about an hour after we ordered to get the soup, another hour to receive the shrimp and what felt like another hour for the shared entree. They brought out the wrong dessert. Which was chocolate mousse and I didn’t like. As we were walking out the crème brûlée came out to which we had to reject.
Music: there was live band which sounded good.
IMO this restaurant makes the $$$ in alcohol and club like after hours because while we were still there the dj had music so loud we were holding our ears.
20% Gratuity was mandatory and unfortunately the waiter shouldn’t have gotten that much. We kept seeing the owner or manager going to each table to explain and provide discounts
They discounted our wine as compensation. Do we recommend?...

First of they hide the bad reviews- check Porthouse Bar & Restaurant without the word "Music".
Second the food was simply terrible. Bread for the table that was hard as a rock with no butter or olive oil. The oysters tasted fresh but were shuckled wrong so the shell pieces were mixed with the oyster. The tuna tartare was ok, nothing special. The chicken tasted dry, flavorless and overcooked. Came with potatoes and random pieces of corn. The fettuccine alfredo with beef tenderloin tasted worst then hamber helper. The noodles were hard and the beef was tough to chew. The food was so bad we didn't even get the dessert that came with the Miami Spice menu.
Third the service was also bad, the food didn't come out at the same time, had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the fettuccine alfredo with beef tenderloin, I should have use that time to cancel my order. I feel bad for the wait staff, you can tell they know the food is going to be bad, they seem lifeless and over it.
Forth they attempted to over charge us for the Miami Spice menu then got annoyed when I called them out for it. They also charge hidden fees, $45 for dinner per person, plus 2x drinks at $11 each, the total should have been $112 plus tax but it came out to $142, that's 27% extra in taxes and fees.
I hope my waiter finds a better job, he was a good dude stuck...
