I'm only giving it 1 Star because the manager was very nice I'm still trying to process what happened there this evening so I walk into the place after ordering a pizza from Papa John's next-door and I was going to have a glass of wine while pizza was being prepared which would've taken about 15 minutes I walked in and greeted the bartender, and then the woman behind the bar. I told her I would like to have a glass of red wine. She seem to not understand what I was talking about. The bartender did nothing but stand there, and then she repeated to me a glass of red wine; I said yes you have red wine and you have glasses right ? I would like to order a glass of red wine and she said I can serve you red wine, in a cup and then presented a clear plastic water cup to me, and I told her never mind and left. However, I returned and asked to speak to the manager who was very apologetic about the experience that I just had. He offered me a glass of wine on the house. I told him that I don't have time that was 15 minutes ago. I really do have toleav but let the waitress know she was totally inappropriate and that I've been here before and I leave a good tip and I've had good service here before so I'm really not sure what her problem was but the bartender also should have Intervened. I'm not sure if it's because she just thinks that Black people drink wine out of plastic cups and brown bags In these times that we are living, one would think excellent customer services would be the number one priority for any business. This bizarre situation of hidden biases exposed its gruesome head, which is why I am conveying my discontent and complaints about my experience at...
Read more2 stars.. The food is bland, not seasoned at all and the servers are latinos who are quite rude. PLs be advise i want to give them a 1 star but im being nice since the atmosphere was chic and the place seemed very clean. This is what lured me in there. My experience: i was staying at a resort hotel nearby for vacation, i decide to go explore and find some dinner for my first night. Unfortunately i was not impressed when i went in and was ignored for 10 straight minutes as i stood there at the bar counter waiting to be waited. two latino ladies were serving and constantly walked passed me ignoring me each time. There was a latino man with glasses behind the bar table who was seeming occupying himself with wine glasses and cups even tho there were no one at the bar. They all seem to glance at me but take no notice to come up and tell me anything. So i am standing while everyone else around me was seated. I bet it was awkward yet the workers there did not care. Quite poor service i would say. After 10 minutes (i know bc i checked my watch) i decide to take matters into my own hand. I walk up to one of the latino ladies (the chubby one) and told her i would just like to order carry out. She finally told me kindly that it would be just a minute. So i continued and waited 10 more minutes. After paying for my order i recieved the food quite quickly but was disappointed when it was bland and they forgot my order of beans (i substituted pico de gallo for another side of beans). Over all just overly disappointed. I wont go here again. There is a columbian restaurant right beside this place i will be trying instead next time im...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Miami, I stumbled upon what can only be described as a culinary paradise. I originally stopped in for breakfast and was so blown away that I immediately made plans to return for lunch the same day. Yes, it’s that good.
From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warmth, authenticity, and the irresistible aroma of sizzling spices. The food? Absolute perfection. Every bite tasted like it was made with love and tradition. Whether it was the rich, savory flavors of the huevos rancheros or the perfectly balanced lunch plates, each dish showcased the heart and soul of true Mexican cuisine.
Now let’s talk about the drinks. Their horchata… oh my. Creamy, cinnamon-kissed, and ice-cold, hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. A must-try that completes the whole experience.
What truly sets Taco Island apart, though, is the people. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to be there. The cherry on top? Sady, the owner, who is as involved as she is charming. She makes it a point to engage with her guests, ensuring everyone feels welcomed and cared for. It’s rare to find an owner so present and passionate—and it shows in every detail of the restaurant.
Taco Island didn’t just serve me a meal—it gave me an experience, one that made me feel like part of the family. If you’re in Miami and want unforgettable food, warm vibes, and the best horchata of your life, Taco Island is a must.
