I would freely give Ikes disrespect and unfilled promises a zero star review - but I can only give a 1 star as the lowest.
This is either the most poorly managed restaurant in the history of Ikes "love" -- or a flagship in false promises and horrible experiences.
Not only did they completely ignore my food allergy concerns which were multiply mentioned as I was making my online order (I suppose I could understand if I was talking to someone and not using a webform) but they also failed to start my order until it was supposed to be ready, included in what they gave me almost every possible mistake (no dairy meant dairy was included, no lettuce meant lettuce was included, extra protein meant a normal portion was used, sauce on the side meant no sauce was offered, etc)
When I called to complain, I learned that the Sunset Valley store regularly disables the phone -- after all - it makes it easier for the manager to avoid any responsibility.
When I sped down to the restaurant to get the order corrected, I was not offered a refund. I was not offered to have my order remade. Instead, I was told that a refund was impossible and that I would have to contact customer service.
When I asked to speak with the manager, I was told she would call the store and I could speak with her. I told staff that the phone was disabled. They ignored me.
After waiting another 10 minutes -- I asked when I could speak with the manager, reminding them the phone wasn't working. The sandwich maker assured me the manager would call me and the refund would be processed.
I should have waited -- but they were closing.
I left.
Twenty minutes after closing - I called back and they miraculously answered the phone. When I asked when the manager would contact me -- I was told she didn't know.
After over an hour... and with a family member who requires medicines to make sure diabetes is well managed... any delay in taking medications or delay in eating a meal can create a medical emergency.
Ike's clearly doesn't train its managers or employee to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen we went up to order, we notified the cashier (the woman with industrial piercing on left ear) that we are deaf. She paid no attention to it and kept chattering away at us when we made our order. We informed her again that we couldnāt understand her and asked her to please write down what she was saying. She either didnāt pay attention to what we said or ignored us completely because she continued to talk. We pointed what we wanted to order on the menu. She continued talking not realizing that we hadnāt used our voice at all and could not understand her. Once we finally place our order, we moved over to the table right in front of pick up area. As we were waiting for our food, my partner and I were talking using sign language this whole time. My partner noticed the sandwich maker calling out a name. She watched her trying to catch what name she was saying. The worker yelled out the name louder and louder then looked over to another worker and said āApparently, thereās no Jay here.ā My partner caught this part while reading her lips and told the worker that we were deaf. The worker looked surprised. Yelling out for our names and looking annoyed while others in the restaurant stared at us is embarrassing. This whole thing couldāve been avoided if this imbecile actually paid attention to us and notified the other worker to signal for our attention.
I would pick no stars for restaurant. Unfortunately, google requires at least one star... that would go for the food. Not for that worker. I would recommend that the staff there undergo training as we have a lot of deaf people living in ATX. Someone else experiencing this may not be as patience as we were toward...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay... I just tried Ikeās for the first time after hearing such good things about it. Look, people. I didnāt understand how great this would be. Iām not a sandwich person, I donāt love tons of breads. It has been less than five minutes since eating my sandwich and I had to leave a review. Iām that happy. Get. the Menegis Tois. Too many choices? I can tell quality goes into everything so you probably canāt go wrong. For once, I didnāt want to open face my sandwich. For once, a sandwich place will now become one of my go-toās for food. Nothing like a sub place. These are filling, warm, just quality. Everything I expected-far exceeded. Iām a small girl and could have saved half of my sandwich, but I kept going bc it was so good. Any requests I had, fulfilled without extra cost (tomatoes and wanted to try the dirty sauce). Someone described the dirty sauce as āa version of garlic aoiliā, so I expected sort of thin garlicky mayo on the side. NOPE. BOOM. Flavor, quality, taste, wow. They donāt skimp, you can tell the quality was great, and the flavor was great. Even the freaking chips they have are A+ (Voodoo chips are this cool bbq/salt and vinegar combo). I now have another go-to local place in Austin, and I can tell they put care into what they do just by eating a sandwich. I will be back. I will get it delivered. I will order it at work. Go-this is not another sandwich place. This is genuinely just...
