I've been dining at Mighty Fine Burgers South Austin for years. The burgers are always good the meat is great. However I've noticed over the years that the smallest request Maybe overlooked. I said two pickles and they gave me four. In the grand scheme of things it's not that important but for that burger at that moment it showed me that somebody wasn't paying attention to the written order that said two pickles.
All the years I have been eating at that location the french fries were generally good but they were little tiny pieces. The whole bag full of little tiny pieces. One day I asked are they supposed to be like that? I was told that the bag was supposed to contain long, fully cut fries. I was assured that the bag would contain all long pieces. It was better than before however, only half of them were little tiny pieces. Today I brought up the same concern and about a third of them were little tiny pieces when she said the bag would be full of long pieces. There have been other french fry problems such as over cooked hard french fries. Having a bag full of small pieces is an indication that quality control isn't important.
Another thing, the highly motivated and quick working employees go through sweeping up under tables, however they bang the chairs real loud and hit the broom or the dustpan on the chairs and make a loud racket. It would be nice for a change, to have a quiet dining experience. Actually I have to admit that a very tall young woman today, that I've seen there for years now was sweeping very quietly. I appreciated it but all too often it's a very loud process.
I'm a tough customer I agree. I expect the food to be prepared properly. I've been around for over 70 years and know what good food is and what good service is like. I guess my complaint it is that I don't see consistency in food preparation. I see a lot of hard-working young people moving quickly. But when quality suffers...

Read moreFood Truck at The Picnic: In short, way too expensive for re-warmed food and rudeness. Go to Sandy's, P. Terry's or Green Mesquite. I wanted this to be successful since it is just out my back door. Unfortunately, they seem to have a business plan of gouging tourist. Even one of their (early) employees said she was shocked by how much higher their food truck prices were. They don't like for you to watch them prepare the food. Most of the time they don't even use the grill you see from the windows. They rewarm the burgers in a toaster over. Others have said their fresh cut fries are very good, but this location serves frozen crinkly fries that are awful. If you try to stand at the pick-up window they will chase you off so you can't see them preparing the food. What you will see most of the time, is an unused grill. Only one time did they use the grill. Since I had been going several times, they warned me about the extra wait, which was only the wait I would expect for a fresh hamburger. The rest of the time, it was just a warmed up burger. My experience with the employees has been mixed. Early on the employees were friendly and helpful. One guy who seemed to be a manager told me they wanted to reach out to the local community. These people seem to have been swapped out for some really rude ones though. The extremely bad experiences have lead me to decide I won't be going back any time soon unless I find reason to believe they...
