50 South Surf Shop — Local services in Surf City

I don't usually write reviews on google. But the service at 50 South was so awesome that my girlfriend begged me to write a review. The prices for surfboard rentals are fantastic, 15-25 dollars (depending on how long you want to keep the board for the day) and 65 bucks for 5 days As an armature surfer who only really surfs during the summer months, running the risk of losing my surfboard on the way down to the beach is a huge concern of mine (its happened before lol). Staff and the owner are very knowledge and even gave me recommendation's on the best surf spots on the island. We rented some boards for the day yesterday and the owner gave my girlfriend a discount! After a long day of surfing me and girlfriend were both burnt and covered in sand (my girlfriend is not much of a beach person so she hates sand) and the owner let us use the hose to rinse instead having to try and find public beach parking! That small gesture of kindness completely changed my girlfriends mood and us both feeling comfortable for our ride back to college. My son and I took a road trip to visit surf city and there wasn’t many option that I saw online for a 1 year old! Which he is a nature boy and I saw 50 south surf shop rented bikes and carriages! So ofc I jumped on the opportunity. I called early this morning to see if there was any available and received great customer service through the phone and in person! Once I got there the younger brown hair worker took my info down and payment which for an hour I believe we paid about $8 and he even assisted me in making sure my son was secure! We were able to get a glimpse of all the shops down the road from them, stopped for some ice cream, and sat by the beach before turning the bike back in! Once I got there the older worker told me not to worry about the mess my son made and that they were able to clean out the carriage and took the equipment back into their shop while having a small brief convo that wasn’t over bearing like some places. Also, everyone in town was super nice, and made sure to ask how I was doing or even have a small convo! If I could give a review for the locals they would get a 5...

Got a advertise brochure, called to rent a kayak, 2 paddle bds. Rec'd 3 paddles. Cheap paddle broke. Fin broke on 1 bd. Kid came 2 p/u. Told him what happened, said don't worry bout it. Then Rec'd a irate call. That there's a missing paddle, and how did I want to handle broke fin/paddle. I said the kid said no worries. Mr cut me off, said no, what are gonna do. Your family broke my items. I said well tell me what you want me to do. He kept going on and on. I said sr what do you want me to do. He said bd is 100.00. I said the kid shld hve said that he cld've left it here. Mr showed up, walked in our rental, came up the stairs and started at me about his money. I said ok I need a receipt. Mr said he doesn't do receipts. Argued with me over that, then said he'll texted it. Snatched the money out my hand. Which pulled my finger. He told me I don't belong here. Not sure what that meant. Couldn't be my skin color. Will NEVER EVER USE...
