Last night was my first time going to Fusion. My husband and I had just moved back to Tacoma proper and we were looking for a place to chill and enjoy a sweet treat. We settled on this place, having been open for about 4 months at the time of this post. I'm more of a homebody and don't prefer to be out at night unless it's worth it. And it is!
Pros - DELICIOUS, unique and inspired donut flavors. They have more traditional donuts and I can quickly vascillate between a plain cake donut and an apple fritter. We got the lemon fritter and filled dulce de leche donut (DDL; one of their most popular). While the DDL was too sweet for me, it was still really good when I took a bite with less filling. A nice depth of flavor and true to the experience of what people like when they enjoy DDL in desserts. The lemon fritter was a unique take on a classic donut that did not taste artificial in the slightest; sweet without being overpowering. They also warm the donuts for you to just the right temperature.
We also shared a London fog that was made extremely well. It had a balanced flavor where the citrus notes of the earl grey tea really shined.
They give you iced water if you like and you can sit and enjoy your food (they serve non-donut food as well) until midnight.
There were people there relaxing, studying, holding virtual meetings, and the music was an early to mid-aughts vibe!
When we left, we sat for a while by the fire pits that we're going. Très chill.
Cons - the music was a bit too loud for me, but remember that I would normally be at home during late nights, probably being a burrito, binge-watching Schitt's Creek for the umpteenth time.
FINAL NOTE: This will be polarizing, but I like them LOADS more than Voodoo Donuts and Legendary Donuts, if that gives you an idea of what Fusion is up to....
Read moreA friend of mine had ordered delivery from this spot before, and everyone in the office raved about it, so I decided to check it out in person, and I’m glad I did! I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and the staff was incredibly patient while I looked over the menu and donut selection. The music was a little loud, so I did have a hard time hearing the woman helping me. Since it was around 7 a.m., everything was super fresh. I ordered a 24oz hot white chocolate mocha and three donuts: a maple bar, a classic glazed, and a sugared twist — all to go. To my surprise, they even threw in a free crunchy glazed donut, which was such a thoughtful touch and great customer service. Every donut was soft, light, and far less heavy than the typical store-bought kind. The flavors were just right — sweet but not overwhelming. I’ll definitely be back to try more! As expected, downtown parking can be a bit of a hassle, but since I went early, I snagged a close spot. They also have a cute outdoor dining area that I’d love to...

Who would have thought you could combine a donut shop vibe with a cozy cocktail bar? The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of great energy.
I had the chicken tacos, and they were fantastic — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. For an appetizer, we shared the shrimp ceviche, which was hands down the freshest and most delicious ceviche I’ve ever had. And the cocktails? Absolutely next-level. You can tell there’s real art and passion behind every drink they make.
Highly recommend checking this place out — it’s an unforgettable experience from...
