Michele made me a double expresso cafe con leche. Tasted like water. I added sugar and coffee mate still terrible. Asked for a new cafe from the other server. Michelle was very nasty scolding the other lady about what she needed to do around the cafe. Michelle was very mean and came across as quite the bully. I told her she needed to bring it down several notches especially when speaking to a fellow employee. Especially in front of customers! She was not happy with me either when she replaced my cafe. Still terrible cafe…will never return!
Update: Thank you for your quick response. I am not sure I can make it in Friday. The double expresso tasted like water both times. She opened up a new can of coffee while I was there as maybe the existing can didn’t have enough grounds. I saw her press the coffee although I don’t think she packed it to the top which probably led to both cups tasting watery. I am accustomed to cafe con leche and order it frequently in the restaurants around town. What she served is sadly lacking x’s 2!! It doesn’t matter how much your machine costs if the person preparing the order doesn’t know how to fill the grounds properly. The only reason possible for it tasting watery. She may be trying to stretch the grounds by skimping on the order. It’s not working. Enough of the coffee talk. Moving on to her attitude. She has no business interacting with customers or speaking to fellow employees the way she did. I was only there 20 minutes and I was shocked to see this all transpire. It is not a good look to have someone like this representing your store. I would strongly suggest you making some serious changes especially with La Segunda...
Read moreIf you're looking for a true, no-frills, made-with-love, authentic Tampa Cuban sandwich, The Floridian is absolutely the place to go. From the first bite, it’s clear this sandwich is made with care and tradition. The bread is perfectly pressed, the pork is tender and flavorful, and the balance of ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard is spot on. It’s everything a Cuban should be. Rich, savory, and satisfying, this is the kind of sandwich that speaks to the soul of Tampa’s culinary roots.
But what truly makes The Floridian stand out is the warmth of its people.
One day, I came in and realized I was a bit short on cash and didn’t have the right card with me. Without hesitation, the staff kindly reduced the price of my sandwich just to make sure I was taken care of. That moment really stuck with me. As someone who worked as a restaurant manager for many years, I always believed in going above and beyond to treat guests with kindness and respect. That day, they did exactly that for me. It reminded me of the standard I held for my own team, and it felt so good to be on the receiving end of that same level of hospitality.
A few days later, I came back not just for the incredible food but to pay that kindness forward with a proper tip. They had earned it, not just with flavor, but with heart.
The Floridian made me feel welcome and seen, and when a restaurant can make you feel like that, you know you’ve found something special. This place isn’t just about great food. It’s about great people, great service, and a genuine love for what they do.
Five stars,...
Read moreTerrible attitude and service. It's been some time since we tried their sandwich and were in the area and thought we would stop in. The person taking our order appeared annoyed that she had to take our order (female with an accent) and then when my order was ready I asked if the sauce was in the bag which I asked about while placing my order at which time both female workers argued with me that there would be a fee. I don't mind paying the fee, I actually asked for the sauce when I ordered and person taking my order just shrugged at me. Then for both workers to tell me they will have to charge and make a big deal about it seemed absolutely crazy. I feel bad for the owner that this is the type of representation you have in your restaurant. Both women need some customer service training and should not complain about having to do their job and that they are going to walk out while they are serving their customers. In these times when so many businesses are closing supporting a local diner is very important but the type of service received today is something that has made me rethink supporting this establishment. *Cuban was good but the stuffed potatoes had hardly any meat. Server - Kelly (2 women, dark hair one had a bun one had shoulder length hair) Order...
