Panera Bread — Restaurant in Tampa

The food is great, I cannot complain 100 percent! However, this Panera bread location needs to improve on their customer service, especially their employees and how they treat customers.

As an example, I had a classic grilled cheese with a piece of bread on the side instead of the chips - I cannot have any of Panera Bread's chips due to their high salt content. I explained to the order taker that I did not want chips. When I went to pick up my order, the lady behind the counter (a hispanic lady) gave me chips and when I politely explained to her that I did not want chips the lady got rude and abrupt.

Additionally, when you go to place an order and you know exactly what you want, the staff at the front counter consistently interrupts you several times to the point you get annoyed. Despite what you want, the front counter staff still cannot get it right.

This is not the only time that orders are messed up as well as experiencing discourteous customer service. I had this happen to me many of times. I have shared my concern regarding the service I receive from this Panera Bread location with management a few times; unfortunately, nothing is done about it and any concerns fall on deaf ears. Additionally, why does staff have to shout your name when your order is ready, not to mention asking for a tip when you place an order online? Is this the way Panera and their franchise operator, Covelli Enterprises, does business?

On a side note, this location is often crowded even during the evening hours making seating almost impossible to find. In particular, college students that buy practically little to nothing from Panera take up all the available seating leaving paying customers with practically no...

I actually ordered on line but decided I wanted one of Panera's delicious teas, so went inside to grab my order and get a tea. I'm standing at the counter...let me back up. There was I'm guessing a homeless man sitting outside begging for someone to buy him lunch. I didn't have the funds to purchase his sandwich and soup so I responded that I couldn't and entered. I guess the person entering after me could because the marched up to the counter and the cashier took his order, while I was standing there waiting! Then, one of the other staff asked her to grab them a loaf of bread for an order and instead of apologizing or at lease acknowledging, she walked off again! When she came back she had the nerve to ask was I having a bad day! WTW?! I responded that I wasn't until she let someone cut in front of me and told her just give me a large tea. She picked up a cup and asked me if this was the size I wanted. Excuse me? Don't you work here? No, I said a Large...a grande and she dropped the cup down so I had to catch it! I got my drink and walked out. Should've talked to manager, but I just wanted to eat my lunch. Overall, the store was clean. And the pick up time was correct. We use them for bagels for meetings in the morning and everything is always fresh and ready to go; but, I think I'll be passing on lunch items in the future. P.S. I ordered through the kiosk at the front, and my experience at this Panera Bread location was extremely disappointing. First, there were flies in the cafe, and instead of focusing on the customers and food, the workers were laughing and flirting with each other. When my order was ready, it was left on the counter without being called out, so I had to check the ticket myself.

When I sat down to eat, I noticed that my sandwich still had feta cheese, even though I had specifically asked for it to be removed. I brought it back to the counter, showed them the receipt, and they said they would fix it. However, when I received the "new" sandwich, it was clear that they simply handed me back the same one I had returned, missing the French baguette and toothpick. When I pointed this out, the employee casually said, "Oh, my bad," with no genuine apology.

After receiving the remade sandwich, I checked it again only to find that it still had feta cheese, and now barely any hummus. It felt like they were deliberately skimping on ingredients because I returned the sandwich earlier. To top it off, when I requested a refund, they made a big deal about processing it and attempted to refund it to a card I did not recognize, even though I don’t have any saved cards on the app.
