Dear Abbots Team,
My daughter and I have always loved Abbots in Tega Cay â itâs been our go-to spot for peanut butter flurries. Unfortunately, our last two visits were very disappointing.
Last week, my daughter went with her grandparents and came home upset because the flurry didnât have the peanut butter sauce or chunks on top like usual. I didnât think much of it until we went together tonight, and the same thing happened.
We ordered two small peanut butter flurries (no whip), which came to nearly $20 with tip. When they were brought over, there was no whipped cream, no sauce, and no peanut butter chunks. When I asked about it, the staff member said the whip was on there (it clearly wasnât), and that he wasnât trained to add the peanut butter sauce or chunks. He even said the picture behind him was âjust for show.â After I politely asked, he eventually added the sauce but seemed frustrated and confused about the chunks, saying, âWhat chunks?â
They also mentioned that thereâs new management â and that itâs the reason their new card system is so slow. If this is the direction Abbots is going under new management, itâs really disappointing. Weâve always loved the quality and service, but if youâre giving less for the same (or higher) prices, youâre going to lose loyal customers like us.
We truly hope this can be addressed so Abbots can stay the special place itâs always been for our...
Read moreI love custard and we had been to the Edison Square location of Abbott's once, so on a recent quest to stock up on frozen treats, I paid them a visit here.
This location is much more convenient to where I live.
There are a few things I didn't like about how they're handing Covid-19. You can order over the phone, but you can't pay over the phone. This means you have to come into the store and hand them your credit card. The employees weren't wearing masks or gloves either.
They did have plexiglass up which was nice and customers couldn't go into the freezer for pints, only employees could.
The custard is delicious though. I love their unique flavors. They have tons of flavors in pints. I went with fluffernutter, pistachio pineapple, and blueberry pie (3 for $17).
The blueberry pie is my favorite followed by pistachio pineapple. Surprisingly, I didn't think fluffernutter was that good (this would usually be my favorite flavor). The peanut butter custard wasn't a strong flavor and I didn't even taste any marshmallow.
I definitely recommend the custard. I'm not sure if I'll be back until the situation improves with Covid-19 since there is no curbside/pay over the phone and employees...
Read morePleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I often disregard frivolous ice cream, gelato or custard "by the scoop & eat it now" shops. They are exhorbitantly expensive. We skirted around the high price barrier for a scoop or two by figuring the cost per ounce. We got a pint, 16 oz., for $6! Wife & I got a spoon and sat down. My sister got a large 2 scoop/waffle cone priced at $6.00! Surprise, we still took the hit. We paid for it all. In the parlance of the "millennial gen", we had an "experience" which we don't regret. Abbott's Custard is a good product. Their staff is friendly, courteous and kind. This new shop is clean and bright. Restrooms were immaculate, both are single user unisex:either or;No waiting. All public restrooms should be. Abbott's is great for meeting family and friends after spending time together. Check out the menu in the attached photos. We will just get our premium ice cream at any local grocer for about $6.00 per half...
