Read moreWell, we received a gift card from Mogger's since my last review. We have been once since then and it was great. We decided to use our gift card on Sunday evening. There were seven of us. Our waitress was sweet and fairly attentive. We all ordered and received our appetizers. I ordered a soup and salad and My son ordered a small side salad as his meal. The food came to the table and I was given a large Mogger's salad. My son was given his small salad. I told the gentleman that brought the food to the table that I ordered the soup and salad. I thought the one he brought was wrong. He said to go ahead and eat it and my soup should be out shortly. Our waitress came out about 5 minutes later with my soup and salad and Trenton's side salad(he already had one). She was confused as to why we each had salads already. She told my son that he got lucky!! He ate both salads. I didn't touch the small salad that came with my soup. Our waitress ask if I wanted a box for my small salad. She brought it out when she brought the check. On the check they charged me $10.99 for the full Mogger's salad and $8.99 for the soup and salad. I went up to the waitress at the desk and said I thought there was a problem with our check. I was informed that the manager said that since I had started eating the larger salad that they had to charge me for it. My son ate both of the small side salads and we were only charged for one. And remember, the gentleman that brought our food out told me to eat it. Also, it was five minutes before the small salad and soup came out so I would have been sitting for five minutes while everyone else was eating. I explained to the waitress that I only took about 5 bites of the salad due to having gastric bypass surgery. I would never order a large salad. She went to talk to the manager. They ended up taking the small salad off, charging me $10.99 for the large salad and $3.99 for the cup of soup. What I ordered was $8.99. The manager never came and talked to us. Since the staff messed up, the customer had to pay. Doesn't seem like good business to me. We paid our bill and probably will not be going back for a while. So sad that a local place can't take care of their...
Read moreI will start this by saying this has nothing to do with the folks working there. They were all very friendly and accommodating.
I went into this place really, REALLY wanting to enjoy it. I’ve had it on my radar for awhile, and tonight was the perfect night because every restaurant in Terre Haute seemed to have an extensive wait time, except for this one.
The ambience of the place is great, truly. Very old style pub-like feel to it. The beer selection was pretty impressive, the draught beer I had was superb. The wife enjoyed her “moggerita” as well.
The appetizers were great, thought they took a while to get to us, and the soup was also pretty fantastic.
However, the steak I got was void of seemingly all flavor, and that includes the bourbon sauce they put on it. I found myself wishing that I had a bottle of A1 to drown it in, and no self-respecting steak should be within 5 yards of the stuff. The potato was okay, and the veggies were pretty good too. The wife seemed to enjoy her chicken, and the kid said his burger was good too.
I guess my biggest complaint is the price. And when I say this, please know that I do NOT expect dining out to be an inexpensive venture. Someone is cooking the food for you, so you should expect to pay a little bit more, and with this being a small business, I am more than happy to pay even a little extra. But good grief, with the prices that were being charged (yes, we got a lot of food, but nothing that should have approached the price we paid), you would think that the owners could eat the 3.5% charge they tack on to the transaction at the end if you pay by credit card. Unless I’m blatantly missing something, I didn’t see this until I got my receipt.
I don’t know, man. The food was “fine”. This place would make an AMAZING watering hole. But we went there for the food, and left very...
