Not a good day for what is typically always good table service. We visited right at lunch time. Waitress (Aaliyah) did not provide lunch menus, only dinner menus, so that was a first-we had to ask for them. We weren’t sure if that was an innocent mistake on her part, or the hostess or deliberate to get us to order higher menu items to increase her tip. She also delayed too long in taking our order as she was being extensively chatty at the bar with drink refills. The soup was served lukewarm and we requested that the next refill be hotter, but she tried to take our bowls we were already eating out of and dipping our spoons into back to the kitchen to have them reheat them—that was a shock! I would never have thought that they would want to expose handled food back into the kitchen! I mean, we’re were remembering how during Covid, absolutely no food could be reintroduced to the kitchen and went straight to the trash can! She also did not bring the cheese grater to the table to sprinkle over our soup and salads/had to ask for that, too—-while waiting and waiting on her to revisit our table. The salads are still soaked with water, too, making the salad dressing taste very watered down. The waitress was very delayed in checking on us. It was not at all a good dining...
Read moreAs seniors, we are still in pandemic hibernation as of April, 2022, so this is a curbside review. Ordering online was okay, but with two notes. First, the browser based version did not accept either of two credit cards, but it did allow me to still place my order and pay at the store. I paid with cash, including leaving extra for a tip.
Second, there was no added fee for using curbside pick-up, and their curbside system was excellent. Their ordering system asked my vehicle model and color, and upon pulling into the reserved curbside space, a courteous employee promptly brought out our order. Of note, it was ready in about 30 minutes as opposed to the 38 minutes estimated time.
As for the food itself, everything was delicious, and we will definitely be ordering again. When the pandemic is over, we plan to dine-in.
Update at 6/2025: First time to dine in, and we found every thing to liking. A special touch came with each glass of wine, and that is a small three item sampler of ham, cheese, and toasted bread with fig preserves. Five Star family restaurant with large portions, enough for next night’s dinner for our...
Read moreWe visit this location at least once a month. Food has improved since covid to pre covid or better. What was lacking was the unattentive service as there seemed to be only two waiters. Fresh parmasean cheese was not offered for our salads and we had to flag down our waitress for a spaghetti spoon that should have been served with the pasta. This is an older location and is showing its age. The building signage had several burnt out letters, a general sign that maybe the location is on its way out. If so we would hope that they move closer to US 290 in Cypress.I would still recommend the Johnny Trio as my steak was cooked to the proper med rare but could use some more seasoning, just more salt and pepper. The marsala sauce was a little bland and could use some more wine and seasoning.
The shrimp and scallop vodka pasta dish needs more shrimp and scallops
We will return as there are more plusses than the few misses we experienced this time. We took home two additional entrées with their take home offer. That is a deal...
