You don’t have to search for too long to find a coffee house. They are everywhere, and while I do like the chain coffee shops, I like the small, independent ones even more and I love visiting one for the first time, anticipating what is in store for me. One that I have found very much to my liking is Dulcedo Coffee, located on the border between Katy and Richmond, Texas.
Dulcedo Coffee is a little larger inside than most coffee houses and it offers varied seating, with options such as tables and chairs, bar seating situated against the front window, and upholstered couches and chairs. There are some small pieces of art on the walls, but the main focus here is on the food and drink, and the person with whom you are sharing.
Coffee drinks form the bulk of the menu at Dulcedo Coffee and among my personal favorites are Havana Latte, cappuccino, and if I’m in the mood for espresso, the Triple Blossom makes a good choice. If coffee isn’t your thing, then you may enjoy an Italian soda or a smoothie instead. They have tea as well, but only a small selection of tea.
Foods offered at Dulcedo Coffee include various croissants, muffins, brownies, etc. If your appetite is heartier, then I recommend ordering one of the breakfast options or lunch sandwiches. They make a very good egg and cheese croissant, and you can’t go wrong with any one of the lunch sandwiches, like the caprese sandwich and the ham and cheese croissant. The food served here is a notch better than what I have had at other coffee shops and it makes Dulcedo Coffee a good choice when you want a complete breakfast or lunch and not just a cup of java.
It's fun to visit coffee shops for the first time. Dulcedo Coffee is close to my house, but I never knew it existed until recently. It has all the necessary ingredients I look for in a coffee house and it easily earns my highest seal...
Read moreI have been coming here for months and have loved my experience each time. The breakfast croissant is amazing, service is always A++, and their coffee is some of the best around, but my visit this past Friday actually had me question if I should even return. I ordered the chicken tender plate for a small meal and when I got it I took a bite. While I didn’t look at it as I was working on my laptop, when I went for the second bite the chicken was completely raw. I went to the counter and asked for the plate to be remade. I got the second plate, and the employee even watched me cut the chicken pieces to ensure it was alright (amazing customer service, highly appreciated). Once he left I cut into a certain area of the chicken and it was raw, although not as bad as the first plate was. I went up again and asked the girl if I could get something in place, she said yes, I picked, and she said that I will need to pay the difference as the next item I chose was $2 more than the chicken tenders. This is what bothered me. I’ve worked in customer service in restaurant settings for 3 years, and when something as serious as RAW CHICKEN touches a customer’s plate then you should do everything you can to make it right, one thing being replace the customers food free of charge. I asked for a refund instead. While I consider myself a very lenient customer after working in customer service, I am also very disappointed in the interaction. If you come here, everything really is lovely but just beware of the chicken - I am very lucky I noticed before eating too much.
Edit: Wonderful follow up to the situation, feels like they...
Read moreCalm, relaxing atmosphere with well crafted sandwiches and good coffee unlike a certain big brand. This is my fourth time visiting in 2 weeks. I would have given five stars but for the wait time. I walked in today to order a turkey sandwich and a smoothie but had to cancel my order because it was not ready after waiting 30 minutes (I am not exaggerating). I ended up driving to the chic-fil-a nearby. With the kind of meals you prepare from scratch I understand waiting some time for my order but 30 minutes for a sandwich is ridiculous. I was surprised to find just one person on duty taking orders and also preparing the food. By the time I left only one of the 4 sitting customers had received their order. I will be back but please improve on this aspect or you run the risk of losing customers and getting negative reviews.
Update November 2020: Still a huge fan of this place, upgrading to 4 stars. The owner is often there and is very pleasant guy. Ordering online is a breeze and I appreciate the points rewards system. One of my favourites on their menu is the Big John breakfast sandwich on a croissant :-) Photos taken...
