Spring Creek Barbeque — Restaurant in Katy

It's ok. This was our first time eating here and I got takeout. We had a gift card so I figured I'd try it and see how this place was. If you've never had barbecue before I think your experience would be pretty decent but considering there are a plethora of barbecue joints around Houston there are way better choices and cheaper as well. We got a family meal and the chicken was cooked really well and tasted pretty good. I also thought the brisket was cooked fairly well and I had no issues with it. However everything else was not as great. First off the barbecue sauce which frankly should be the main point of eating barbecue was incredibly weak. They went with a heavily sweet barbecue sauce that in my opinion tasted like they had mixed sugar and red food coloring water together and called it barbecue sauce. The corn was absolutely overcooked and none of us could finish eating it. The green beans were your typical flat barbecue joint canned green beans. The bread was decent no complaints there. And finally our kids wanted macaroni and cheese and it tasted like any other Kraft mac and cheese. Nothing special. If I were going to choose a barbecue joint there are far better choices around the area but if this happens to be your closest place to you then maybe it would suffice. I should add the customer service here was excellent. The people here were very friendly and took our order immediately. Nice people here and I'd have to argue against the other reviewers who said otherwise. It's just too bad that not all of their food was up to snuff. A VERY busy night for a school fund raiser event. The staff worked hard and communicated well over a FULL and crowded restaurant with an Extremely diverse crowd. I ordered an XL family meal, the beef and chicken were great, A-. They understood what I meant by moist brisket and obliged. The picky eaters in the line wanted lean... We reaped the rewards. The chicken was cooked perfectly, not dried out, even the wings were just right. I got the ribs too, but they were small and dry, C-. Not sure if it was due to the time out of the smoker or over cooked but close to being very good. The sauce was the right kind of tangy but the cooking of it takes away some of the pizzazz, C+. I understand the idea of the temperature danger zone but the sauce is just cooked out of zing. I know some people really don't like cold sauce on their hot meat. I get that... 😉 Sides were good. Coleslaw was on point, A. Considering you like the mayo/creamy. It was cold, the cabbage was fresh and crisp, a perfect amount of salty, sweet and tangy. Mac and cheese B-, I don't get worked up over a regular mac and cheese, that's for my youngest. Potato salad is a B-, but could easily be better. A better amount of red onion, celery and red pepper with some roasted jalapeno. It would be great. They packed the order well. Sturdy pan, wrapped with butcher paper and cling wrap. Stayed warm. Everyone was happy. One more day down being a dad in Texas....

Aug 14, 2021 Ordered a child’s place to go for my grandson asked for 2 legs was told they cannot do that. I ask for manager manager came he said sure u can get 2 chicken legs but just this one time. I said ok as I wait for my food I watch them have a conversation and I figured it was about me. When my order was ready they sent another guy to give me my food and he says unfortunately we couldn’t give you two chicken legs I said but the manager assured me I can get it this time. He ask me who did I speak to I pointed to the guy. Then he says he new here and still in training so he doesn’t really know. I feel they went out of their way to not give me what I wanted. All this cause I wanted two chicken legs I asked for another manager he says there’s no one else here. Ok just give me my food. Once he told me I can have it this time it was understood and my order should have been fixed the way I wanted . I will never get food from here again as my grandson loves their food.
