Pokeworks — Restaurant in Texas

I really wanted to like this place. The people were polite. There aren't many selections in both food and beverages. This place charges extra for items that other places have as part of the order. I appreciate being asked how much of the sauce to add to the food. I decided to dine in. Beverages were not available, unless I purchased a bottled or canned beverage. I noticed the employees were on their phones. At one point they were all in the back. I also noticed one employee came to refill the bins and placed the new in top of the old, instead of the reverse which is how it should be. Hopefully they are keeping an eye on the time the food was left out. My son did complain of sharp stomach pains and didn't feel well by the time we got home. While sitting there I had noticed on of the employees wearing gloves. He the. Reached in his pocket to do something on his phone and put the phone back in his pocket. Then touched his hair and rubbed his nose twice, followed by handling the food again. I also saw him using a rag to wipe all the counters, but never in any kind of disinfectant. Followed by handling food again. All while never changing his gloves or washing his hands. In regards to the food, the flavor was good. The food was very fresh and there was plenty of options. I ordered a Poke bowl and everything tasted great. However the portion size for some of the toppings were small so I ordered extra of a topping and of course it was an additional charge. I also wish I could have paid over the phone without having to order on the app. I was already in front of the restaurant and the app wouldn’t download. I have a baby and it’s inconvenient to get him out and in the car so I asked if they could do curbside. They said they could bring it out to me but only if I paid on the app. I ended up ordering over the phone and had to go inside to pay. I had to take my son out of the car and and my order wasn’t ready because they forgot to ask me for the mixings. Once they got my order right and as I was paying, my son was trying to grab anything he saw on the counter lol. I just wanted to grab and go. Some parents have small children and it makes it challenging to carry food while handling a baby/ or babies. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t pay over the phone when I had told them I was already in front of the restaurant. It’s also a little pricy for the servings you get. I paid over $16 for a small Poke bowl that had brown rice, ahi tuna, salmon, seaweed salad, and other toppings with ponzu sauce. Overall the food was what I expected. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pokeworks, and one of the highlights of my visit was the exceptional service provided by a staff member named San. From the moment we were seated, San made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Her warm smile, attentive nature, and professional demeanor immediately stood out.

San has a natural charm that makes guests feel at ease. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations based on our preferences and dietary restrictions. Her suggestions turned out to be perfect, you could tell she truly knew the dishes and cared about the dining experience of each customer.

What impressed me most was her ability to balance friendliness with efficiency. Despite the restaurant being busy, San never seemed rushed or flustered. She checked on us at the right times, refilled drinks without being asked, and made sure everything was to our satisfaction throughout the meal.

It’s rare to find someone who is not only excellent at their job but also seems to genuinely enjoy it. San brings that energy, and it enhances the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. She turned what would have been a simple dinner into a truly memorable experience.
