Taco Cabana — Restaurant in Texas

Updated review: Was in the area 4 months ago and had outstanding food at this specific location. Again tonight was in the area and specifically remember that experience and tonight was the same. Brisket tacos with grilled peppers/veggies was orgasmic, mouth watering and addictive. Carmolized peppers/onion, moist brisket hit the spot. I'm a cheap skate and struggle with the idea of a $5 taco...not anymore. My goodness that was tasty!!! Really made my night so I thought I'd take time to show appreciation.

Older review from 4 months ago: Taco Cabana has been one of my off and on again favorites for casual quick tex-mex, since coming to Houston 12 years ago. But they are the epitome of inconsistency from store to store.

Tonight was the absolute bomb! By far best TC meal I've ever had! Ground beef taco was filled to the brim of the shell with tasty seasoned ground beef (as it should be for those prices), Mango Tanjin fried pie was fluffy Hot, with real fruit, not overly sugary and obviously cooked fresh (SOOOO good!). Even the rice was clearly cooked to perfection, not overcooked or old like normal.

I can't explain why tonight was so outstanding, but to TC management, whatever was done or whomever was cooking tonight (23rd June 25, 930pm) is GOOD for your business! Somebody clearly took pride in what they were preparing! Unfortunately I'm not often in this part of Houston so this is my first time at this store (maybe this store is always like this?) and I suspected my future visits to other stores are going to be back to the off and on again consistency issues.

But tonight this store and these good folks earned a 10/5 stars... REALLY!

For something as room for improvement, maybe next time a spork and napkins thrown in the bag...

In today’s day and age, any single dollar that you spend on outside food is a dollar that doesn’t go towards savings, bills, rent, etc. Because of the economic hardship a lot of us are going through, I think we expect and deserve decent products and service whenever we spend our hard earned money on anything but necessities. Now, I understand this is fast food but it’s still a service and you still take my money. I am not expecting the food to be amazing, I am not expecting a five star restaurant, I am not even expecting Taco Cabana to pass a health inspection at this point. For a Taco Cabana to somehow still catch me off guard with the subpar food is bewildering. There is at least something beautiful about the idea that I still am able to be surprised. I am thrilled at how they will top themselves next. It’s almost like playing russian roulette. What will be next? A roach in my nachos? Mold in my sour cream? A toenail in my burrito? Who knows. At the very least, Taco Cabana still provides their clientele with something to look forward to. Whenever you are at the lowest moments, starving, and too exhausted to cook: Taco Cabana will be there to put the final nail in the coffin. ps. the sopapillas may seem like a good deal, but please have dental insurance. Mine were inedible but I was able to use them to scrub the rust off...

Well let's just put this way this taco Cabana needs to get it together ..#1 customer service and time management .. laughing and carrying on when trying to order when one person not sure who it was asked to get us a sample of the maragarita and everybody just looking at us one person throwing a paper towel at the maragarita machine cashier laughing . Then we get a sample and I'm looking at my husband like u really want to eat here?? So me and my daughter look for a table and there is mess everywhere water all on floor by table tablesessy so we go eat outside . We wait for our food and the cashier brings out food and she doesn't set on table she scoots it's on table while pushing our drink . She needs customer service training big time then she brings out 2 fajita tacos and puts on table and says HERE.. AND WALKS OFF . Mind you it's not that busy in lobby but there is a long wait so of y'all were there today around 7-7:30 pm 6/4/19 that's why service sucked food was ok . I just think these days ppl lack...
