Heard good things about this place so decided to try it out. They don't deliver or use delivery services, se we ordered online and drove to pick it up (we live about 5 minutes away). We waited a lot longer for our food than the suggested time. What really sucks that despite sitting in the restaurant for a long time waiting on the food, when we got it, everything was cold. I don't mean warm, I mean cold. That's really sad given that it was a lot of fried food which then became just gummy.
General Tso Chicken - decent flavor. Chicken was overcooked, tough and dry. They use white meat. It was cold and gummy on the outside. It's giving Pei Wei spicy chicken.
Sesame Chicken - decent flavor - pretty much identical to the general Tso. In fact, we couldn't taste the difference and wouldn't know but for the sesame seeds. It was cold and gummy on the outside. Also giving Pei Wei chicken. Overcooked and dry cubes of chicken.
Three pepper chicken. Crispy and spicy. This was the only warm dish we received. This was one of two dishes they got right.
Cream cheese wontons. These were not good. The filling was runny, almost watery. This may be the worst cream cheese wonton I ever had. Undercooked and not crispy. It was floppy on the outside and cold on the inside. Served Cold.
Spring roll - undercooked, not crispy, filled with a paste like substance that I'm guessing was undercooked. How is a spring roll not crispy? Took one bite - couldn't eat the rest.
Fried Rice - decent rice and was the second best dish. Served cold.
Ground pork with green beans - not good, super heavy on the vinegar which overpowered everything. Cold
Glutinous rice with brown sugar. This dish looked nothing like the pictured dish. It took us a minute to figure out what the undercooked lumpy balls we were served were.
Cucumber Salad - not spicy - also a decent dish. Good flavor. Would probably order the spicy version if I went back.
Would probably not go back. Also, dinner entrees do not come with rice. I knew this going in, but that's just weird for a neighborhood Chinese spot.
I don't get the rave reviews. Maybe it was an off...
Read moreTriple Pepper offers an elevated experience in Sichuan cuisine, setting itself apart from traditional Chinese dining. During their soft opening, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. Our meal commenced with a complimentary dish of edamame, which was delicately seasoned, providing a light yet satisfying introduction to the culinary journey ahead.
Our server, Sky, was attentive and knowledgeable, assisted by Louis who was undergoing training. They both patiently answered all our inquiries, including details about the level of spiciness available, which can be tailored to individual preferences. It was evident that the chef took great care in crafting each dish, ensuring a rich and flavorful experience.
We began our meal with fried dumplings, perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within, complemented by a savory filling. We also tried the beef roll, which was delightfully robust and seasoned impeccably. For soups, we ordered the hot and sour soup and the dry seaweed egg drop soup. Notably, the dinner-sized soup was available only in a generous large portion, ensuring it could be shared or enjoyed fully.
For our main courses, we chose the beef with noodles and Mongolian beef. The servings were generous, and each dish burst with vibrant flavors that harmonized beautifully on the palate. The beef with noodles was particularly satisfying, while the Mongolian beef was notably tender and rich.
The service throughout our visit was exemplary, and the ambiance retained the comforting charm reminiscent of the former Red Phoenix. I wholeheartedly recommend Triple Pepper for anyone seeking exquisite Sichuan cuisine, and I look forward to returning for another...
Read moreShould've posted this last week, but it's been a busy week. We found Triple Pepper through our foodie groups. They had just opened the day before for their soft opening. Love the look of the new place, much brighter than what was there before. Since we were one of a few tables there, the owners and employees had more time to describe dishes and modify orders where needed. My wife can not do hot, so they changed up hers to accommodate.
First, they brought us some complimentary edamame. Then they took our orders. We started with scallion pancakes and pan-fried dumplings. The pancakes were tasty, could've been a bit crispier, and the sauce was very nice. The dumplings were great. A couple were a bit over fried, but it is the soft opening. Have to get the equipment figured out for correct heating. My wife had the three pepper beef which they took the heat out of. I had a couple of bites. It had a great flavor and definitely a good portion. I had the three pepper chicken. I love hot, so I told them no modification to mine. I didn't think about it having schezwan peppercorns in it which is not a good taste to me so I have to remind myself to tell them next time to leave them out, but that's on me. They also bring out the steamed rice in a bamboo container with a metal insert. Nice for keeping it warm.
All in all, it was a good experience. They had a couple of stumbles but gotta give them the benefit of the doubt and work the kinks out.
We will...
