My apologies for not completing the review. I know as a previous small business owner, it is not possible to improve if you do not know what it is that needs work. The visit was our first time at your establishment. There was no employee at the door to explain your system. We simply saw menus on the wall so we grabbed one. The menu was confusing as it appeared you were a sit down, get waited on restaurant, and yet you had what also appeared to be a "buffet line". Confused but willing to proceed we got in the line. After a few minutes a man from behind the counter gestured for us to tell him what we wanted, though his english was very broken and hard to understand. So hard to understand in fact that what I tried to order was not what I received. So right out of the shoot, things are not looking so great. - Once we got food (not what I ordered) we had no idea where to get our drinks, nor what was available to us including silverware. It was a hunting expedition that I did not fancy, but finally we were ready to eat. As previous reviewers have done in the past (as I now see) I will, in like kind review the food:
Chicken: dry dry dry - no flavor and it was green inside - not okay Sausage: zero flavor - I have had polska kielbasa from HEB that was better Ribs: the rub was okay, but also lacked flavor delight and the ribs themselves not good - not smokey - rather flat The one meat I had tried to order that actually looked good was the brisket, but again - communication breakdown The mashed potatoes were the highlight of the meal, along side of the sweet tea, which in this diners opinion, was the only "southern" item done well. So overall, our experience at your establishment was not good. We are new to Texas and had the preconceived notion that y'all knew how to do BBQ down here....The place looks amazing, the decor inside and out is off the charts adorable, southern, smokehouse vibe great! I just feel that if as much attention to detail was shared between the food and the customer service, this could have been an entirely different experience.
As an ending note: when I went to place my review in the first place, I noted several other poor reviews (if only I had read them before coming in). Some of them not too long ago. At the end of each one, you reply with a " how can we do better" yet many are full of suggestions similar to mine. From the outside looking in, if you were truly interested in doing better, our experience would not have mirrored those of the past? ~ food...
Read moreI have never been so insulted as I was here tonight. They already treat their ribs like gold, but when I ordered the ribs tonight they were so small that 5 of them fit into a white side dish container. Three of them were barely the size of the first two joints on my index finger and the other 2 were maybe twice that size, but there were 5 in a side dish container. I am so thankful I looked at my to go order before I pulled away, because I would have been so upset when I got home. Unfortunately, here I am still upset because I can't believe this even happened. I was so shocked and complained and the girl at the counter was like, "What do you mean? There are 4 there." I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone that this girl could not see that this was inappropriate and barely a handful of food for what I paid. I asked to speak to the manager but she just came back and said he said to replace them. Eventually the manager came over to talk to me and gave me larger ribs but no where near the size I usually get. He didn't believe me and said ribs wouldn't fit into a white container, so I told the girl to show him. I wish I had taken pictures before I gave them back, but I was just so shocked that the drive thru girl thought this was in any way acceptable or even the worker who put them in the white container?! I can't wrap my mind around their thought process. Then the ribs I got were mostly fat, so I still feel ripped off, but I mostly feel insulted that they tried to pass this off on me as this being okay and acted like I was the one with the problem. This isn't the first time I've had issues with the cashier. It's like she can't think. I hate to have to be so "on guard" to do takeaway from a restaurant. It should be a pleasant experience but it's not. This is the second time I've had issues in the last 3 visits I've had here. This is completely unacceptable and a warning ⚠️ for everyone who does take away to check your food before you drive away.
Edit: This is a picture of one of the replacement ribs. They were twice the size of the original ribs, but they are still the size of my finger. Some people may be making out like bandits with this 4 rib rule when they get down to the lower parts of the ribs, but at the upper part y'all need...
Read moreTerrible. Brought my 2 sons here for breakfast and we each ordered breakfast combo platters, paid and then sat down. 2 customers behind us ordered their food and paid and sat down after us. About 20 minutes later, they served the other 2 customers first while we were still waiting for our food, which was not the problem. A minute later, the server that took our order walked out to our table and told us they only had one order of hash browns remaining, and if we wanted a substitute for the two remaining platters.
I then politely pointed out that the two customers that ordered behind us had already received their food and both had hashbrowns on their plate. The server said she didn't know what happened, and again asked if I wanted a substitute. I then asked for a manager.
After a few minutes of the manager huddling with the serving staff, the manager came to the table and asked if we wanted a substitute, to which I again asked why the two customers that ordered and paid after we did had hashbrowns and we didn't. The manager said he didn't know when they ordered and didn't know what happened. For information purposes, there were exactly 6 customers in the restaurant including my party, so it wasn't busy at all. I again politely asked him to explain how it happened, and he just asked if I wanted a substitute. I asked for a complete refund, to which he immediately obliged and we left.
