It's probably a bit unfair to review Ling's after only one experience, but since I ordered such a staple dish I wanted to at least give potential customers a heads-up about their cashew chicken (at least the particular one I got).
The good news is that all of the ingredients seemed very fresh, and the wait wasn't long at all (I used DoorDash for delivery).
What was odd was that, even though the dish was clearly cashew chicken based on the ingredients, the seasoning was so overpoweringly saturated with the taste of lemon that it was really off-putting. Typically what I want to taste in cashew chicken is a delicious, traditionally-seasoned brown sauce. While this dish was made with a brown sauce, whoever the chef was added lemon to either it or some other component of the dish that just overwhelmed my taste buds and made me not want to finish it at all. But, again, if I were a big lemon fan or had actually ordered lemon chicken, I would have probably really enjoyed the dish.
Hope that's helpful to anyone out for some...
Read moreI've enjoyed my second visit to Ling's as of yesterday. The business is well kept, clean, service is courteous and the food I've had thus far is great for the price.
On my first visit I gave the Spicy Tuna sushi, egg rolls and General Tso's chicken a try (one of my favorite Chinese dishes). I didn't have any difficult cuts of chicken, some of the other places in town seem as though they season rubber and play it off as chicken. Ling's was fresh and definitely some of the best General Tso's I've had.
Yesterday I gave some Kani sushi (crab sticks) a try coupled with a Honey Chicken platter. Again - the service was great despite being a relatively busy evening, as you can see in the pictures the presentation was still neat (the plates do have embedded design which makes it look messy, wasn't the food) and the chicken again didn't disappoint.
Ling's is definitely my new spot for Chinese, the price is right, food and service are great. What more...
Read moreOh my where to start? We sat down and ordered drinks. I got the tea, it was disgusting. I reordered pop. The wife got a pop as well. The wife orders a salad and ask about the dressing which was described as "dressing for salad". We then ordered soup to start, both the egg drop and hot sour soups. The egg drop was okay but lacking flavour. The hot sour soup was horrible, it almost tasted like dish soap. We finally placed our order for our main dish. I got the general tso chicken and the wife ordered teriyaki steak. Being that it was a Sunday we could only choose the dinner options, they were tiny. My wife's steak was cold and rubbery. My general chicken was hard and most of all lacking chicken. Seriously there was no chicken in the breading. The fried rice was okay but bland. I'm guessing since one of my peas was hard that it was an add water mix. Horrible service, flavourless food, and overpriced. We will definitely not be...
