Our group joined the waitlist promptly at 7:03 PM and was finally seated at 7:22 PM. Upon inquiring about the status of our table, having surpassed the estimated wait time, the host – a red-haired woman – informed us that a text had been recently dispatched. However, our party was aware that she had overlooked us, as we had already checked our phones before seeking clarification.Which served as an indication that we should not have proceeded to be seated. Subsequently, we underwent another period of waiting before any service was extended to us. It is noteworthy that despite our efforts to engage the attention of the nearby servers through waving, at least 4 of them including the host, none of them responded and turned away.
After an extended 20-minute interval without any acknowledgement or provision of water, our designated server finally approached our table. However, her initial response upon my inquiry, if she was our waitress, she indicated she would "be right back" and left us unattended. This unprofessional exchange only served to exacerbate our disappointment. Consequently, we approached a host to express our frustration and explaining the situation, the host indicated that she would summon the manager.
At this juncture, our server swiftly approached our table and converged with the host to ascertain my presence near the host area. The subsequent arrival of the manager, Amber, was precipitated by a rather abrupt "Yes?" Her response seemed to lack the expected courtesy and empathy one would anticipate in a customer service setting. As I began to recount the sequence of events, Amber interjected to inquire about our wait time, dismissing my statement that we had endured a 40-minute wait without service (including wait time outside). When I contradicted her account, she appeared indifferent, disregarding the discrepancy.
My concerns were met with an astonishing lack of concern as Amber hastily inquired of the host regarding the seating time. The host, predictably, cited an unrealistically short time frame of "12 minutes," to which I provided an accurate account of the actual duration. Regrettably, Amber exhibited no genuine interest in rectifying the situation, instead offering a curt "You've only waited 12 minutes. Do you want to be seated somewhere else?" Her response failed to address our expectation of timely service or offer an apology for the inconvenience we had endured.
As the exchange continued, Amber's tone and approach remained unapologetic. I sought clarification on whether we would receive adequate service if we were to be relocated, to which Amber indicated that the establishment was "We are very busy." I've emphasized that there hasn't been any apology for the delayed service or an acknowledgment of my party's dissatisfaction. This response only further frustrated our group,"Okay. Do you want to be seated or do you want to leave?" as it implied that our patronage was not of significant importance.
Upon my request for her name, Amber produly identified herself and also mentioned that her advisor was Scott which I have not asked or interested in. Her demeanor during this interaction seemed detached and indifferent to the evident dissatisfaction experienced by customers. As a dedicated fan of BJ's over an extended period, the treatment we received during this visit was utterly contrary to the positive experiences I had grown accustomed to.
The lack of courtesy, accountability, and attentiveness displayed by the staff, particularly Amber, has left me feeling deeply embarrassed that I chose to bring guests to this establishment, only to expose them to a subpar...
Read moreI wasn't going to write this review because people are usually more likely to complain than compliment, but after not receiving a refund for a gift card to a place I do not plan on going back to, especially after the experience we had, celebrating my brothers bday Sunday June 8th. I purchased the gift card for the bday dinner we were celebrating my brother with, and didn't come in time. Order your gift cards way ahead of time as they are not sent instantly. (I received mine after I got home that night & had already paid) The 1st cloth napkin I opened was dusted with crumbs or something and there was a hair on it. I threw it aside. The next one I opened was also dusted with stuff. The 1st server must've been stressed out or at the end of her shift. She was not very friendly/engaging, didn't tell us her name, she asked if we needed anything else, and I asked if she was ready to take our order & she said no. Wtf? Thankfully she handed us over to another server who was next to amazing. If it wasn't for him, the pazooki & my family, the whole experience would've been awful. The food was edible, but not flavorful. I had the brewhouse bowl. Idk if it was the quinoa or rice that wadn't completely cooked. Everyone at our table had food leftover (which is rare for our family lol) & none of us wanted to take any home (which is also rare when it's good). My dish had hard dry food on the bottom of it, and my daughters bowl was dirty on top. The womens restroom was a wreck, the 3rd toilet was flooded, there was t.p. all over the floor, including a roll, and the trash was full. No manager came around to ask how everything was, otherwise I would've surely shared my experience. We were planning to leave a cash tip, and had split the bill. If you're not careful when paying the bill, gratuity is automaric. Dominic was so good though, we also left the cash tip. Bj's will not refund your gift card. Idk why my brother chose this place, prob trendy, but I will defintely not be going back. I told my dad about the experience & he said Torrance is no good, you gotta go to Cerritos or Lakewood? nstead. I'll prob gift the gift card I'm now stuck with & encourage the receiver not to go to...
Read moreThis place has been going downhill. I try and not write bad reviews without due cause. So this one was tough because I really liked coming here. I am part of the rewards program because we come here often. But the last 4 times I've been here with my family, this place missed the mark, and today was probably the last time I am coming here. To give you a run down, one time they over salted my dad's ribeye steak so much he didn't finish it and didn't want to order another one. Kind of ruined the family meal we were having because he didn't eat. It was a letdown for sure. Another time, they served me a dry semi burnt prime rib when I asked for mine medium rare. They replaced it, but it took a while before I got mine. Meanwhile, my wife felt a little guilty eating her food while I was empty-handed. The ahi tuna salad that my wife orders that was once very good for the price now seems skimpy and lacking on quality and presentation, and the tuna squares that line the sides are noticeably smaller. The appetizers have been a hit or miss. But not something I like to gamble with when they are $15 dollars a pop. This last time, we came on a Monday for the 1/2 large deep dish pizza deal. We ordered 2 pizzas and drinks and while we were waiting the waitress comes with our drinks and tells us that they are "out" of large pizzas and asks us if we would like to order small pizzas instead. Mind you, there are many customers around us eating large pizzas. I asked if the small pizzas would be half off too, and she went and asked her boss, and they said no. So I order 2 large pizzas for 1/2 off but am offered 2 small pizzas at full price? I don't think so. We ended up leaving disappointed. This was after a 40-minute wait to be seated, then 20 more minutes waiting on a waitress getting our drinks and telling us they can't do our order. What a sick joke. The waitress was nove enough to comp my ice tea but this place isn't worth the wait, and their prices are not worth the food, and it's not worth the time it takes to get orders out that may or may not be correct. Good bye BJ's you don't live up to your name as...
