Review - Part 2) Now, after about ten minutes of semi-patient waiting, I was handed my cup of Americano and proceeded out the front door, anxiously awaiting my late afternoon caffeine fix! Not even able to wait to get inside my vehicle, I took a healthy sip as I opened the door to my pickup. Uh oh! The beverage was slightly more than room temperature and was the weakest Americano that I had ever tasted! So, I returned to the store and approached the cashier who originally took then prepared my drink. After informing her that A) the beverage was not hot and B) it was the weakest Americano I had ever tasted and C) I wanted my $3.67 returned, she gave me a puzzled look then proceeded to continue working on whatever she was working on when I entered the facility, perhaps hoping that I would simply vanish. Eventually, the second employee – the senior level individual – inquired as to why I had returned. When I explained that A) the beverage was not hot and B) it was the weakest Americano I had ever tasted and C) I wanted my $3.67 returned, she approached the cash register, seemingly willing to process my refund. Instead, she pulled her cell phone from her pocket and proceeded to make a call. After a couple more minutes of down time, she was able to reach a someone who might be able to assist. I believe that she was asking permission to issue a refund and also sought instructions as to how to enter the information into the cash register. I watched as she made at least a dozen attempts to get the proper credit to appear. At one point, when it appeared that success was a possibility, I reminded her that because of my senior discount, I was only entitled to a refund of $3.67, not the $3.86 full price. Oops, that turned out to be the beginning of some more downtime as the senior discount issue seemed to add a new layer of complexity to an already perplexing process. Meanwhile, a pair of customers lined up behind me, awaiting their turns to run the gauntlet. Hoping to speed things along, I pulled the thirty-seven cents of change from my pocket, placed it on the counter and suggested that she simply open the register, return my four dollar bills and finish up the bookkeeping after the crowd thinned out a bit. She did. So after enduring about 20 minutes of shattered Americano coffee dreams, I left the restaurant. When I finally arrived home and was greeted by my wife with one of those “where have you been all afternoon” looks, I impishly smiled and said “Do I have a story for you, dear!” It may be time to switch to bottled...
Read moreReview) Part 1) I occasionally like to reward myself with an extra boost of java in the form of a hot, strong cup of Americano coffee. Sometimes I just need that extra jolt to keep all systems moving. During a mid-afternoon foray to the local mall, I decided to pull into the Farmington NY Dunkin restaurant and satisfy my craving. I immediately noticed 7 people in the restaurant. One customer was sitting at a table apparently enjoying her beverage, another customer entered behind me and four employees stood ready for the onslaught of customers. The cashier who waited on me had some difficulty processing my senior discount but was able to eventually sort that out. My $3.86 original purchase was discounted to $3.67, allowing me to pocket thirty-seven cents from the 4 one dollar bills that I submitted. So far, so good – but not for long. I moved over to the order pickup area and watched and waited for 2-3 minutes. Eventually, I began to notice that very little seemed to be going on at all as far as my order was concerned. As a matter of fact, I observed the entire group standing in the middle of the floor simply doing nothing at all for a couple of minutes. Finally, one of the staff began working again and headed in my general direction with a cup and a bag. I was momentarily a bit puzzled since I only ordered a coffee. The mystery was quickly solved when she handed the coffee and the food order to the customer who arrived AFTER I placed my order, leaving me standing alone, waiting and wondering, After a few more minutes of inactivity, I noticed the cashier casually approaching one of the machines that might have been an Americano coffee dispenser. Filled once again with hope, I then observed her attempting to push the buttons that would dispense my Americano. Following unsuccessful attempts, another employee, probably a more senior employee or team leader or supervisor type, moved over and inspected the process that was moving with glacier-like speed. Noticing that there were no coffee beans in the machine, she came to the rescue, opened a bag of beans and loaded the canister. Hopeful again, the cashier again punched some a series of buttons which resulted in the dispensing of...
Read moreAt the Farmington location around 12:40 my fiancée and I were already having a rough Sunday morning and felt that trying the new cookie crumble topped coffee might make it a little better. We arrived to the location and informed the nice person at the drive through speaker that we had a mobile order. The nice person informed us to pull around to the pick-up window. After waiting at the pick-up window for a couple minutes an employe opened the window and asked why we were sitting at the window. I informed them that we were waiting on a mobile order and provided my name. The employee immediately gave me attitude claiming that I did not tell anyone and scolded us saying that I need to inform them at the speaker that we are here for a mobile order. I attempted to explain to the person that we did inform them and were told to pull around. The employee angrily supplied our drinks while continuing to complain that they didn’t know we were there. After handing us our drinks they did not supply us with straws so I sat there for another minute waiting for them to come back to the window; no one came back over so I proceeded to drive away. I’m not much to give reviews but I feel this situation warranted such, this employee had no issue being rude to us for no reason at all and didn’t even apologize after being in the wrong. Hopefully the next time I visit Dunkin, if I do, I don’t get treated...
